Hyperemesis gravidarum - when to get pregnant again?

Hi,
I had hyperemesis gravidarum in my first pregnancy and was sick a lot and has debilitating nausea from 5 weeks pretty much all the way through. Although it did ease slightly as the pregnancy progressed.

I was off work for first 15 weeks, then went back on reduced hours and took maternity leave quite early. I really struggled, I was in bed a lot and needed help with daily tasks.

My DD is now 18 months old and we're wondering how and when to try for another baby! I'd definitely need to discuss with GP to get meds agreed beforehand. But wondering if it's best to hold off ttc until DD is at school nursery so she's looked after several hours each day if I'll be struggling.

I'm a SAHM currently and have lots of support from my Mum.

What have other people's experiences been with subsequent HG pregnancies?

I went for it when DS was 14months, thinking being it would be worse to he debilitated/hospitalised when he was older. I was incredibly ill second time, hospitalised for months and 6stone at 9 months pg. it's like a distant horrific memory now, it was bad but I don't regret a second. My obstetrician repeatedly tried to persuade me to terminate the pregnancy, which was v hard. I had DD at 35 weeks by c section. She was so amazing and I gained 3 stone in 6 moths :)

Currently pregnant with seccond. Sickness was worse at the start, I tore my stomach lining which resulted in me throwing up blood clots. But persuading a doctor to give me tablets i had with previous pregnancy its got alot better. The doctor didnt want to give anthing to me at the start of my phonecall appointment telling me it will get better as my pregancy gets on and she wouldnt prescribe tablets untill further on in the pregnancy but i begged and begged and i think she got the message that i wouldnt take no for an awnser and that i was desprate for the tablets, prescribed me the tablets i asked for and explained the risks from taking them during pregnancy- that there is no medical trials on pregnant woman but theres no reports of links that it harms the baby

I’m currently in my second hg pregnancy (36 weeks), I’ve had it badly throughout, still on anti sickness pills, lost 2 stone, yet my first i was pretty much fine from 20 weeks.
I’m on a Facebook group and most people seem to worse with 2nd but it’s just luck.

Its a really hard decision to make when you've had an HG pregnancy. My HG baby is now 3 (eldest is 5 and at school) and we've decided the time is right and I am now 4+3 pregnant with baby 3.... it was a very long and hard decision to make.

My 1st was with childminder 4 x a week when I was pregnant, and that did help!

I sought support through pregnancy sickness support who recommended preemptive medication. GP wasn't sure, but has prescribed me Cyclizine and I am just taking 1 a day at the moment.

Sorry to hear you've had such awful times.l with your pregnancies.
It's such a hard decision to make as to when (if ever) the best time is.

@buttercuplizzy definitely think some form of childcare when I'm pregnant is the way forward.
Oh good idea, I will speak to Pregnancy Sickness Support for their advice.

I was on cyclizine and Prochlorperazine before. But if I'm as bad as before I will need to ask for the next line treatment.
