Covid positive-blood thinners

I'm 37 weeks and got a positive Covid test 2 days ago. I'm double vaxxed and was gonna get my booster soon but now can't for a while :(
I've been told I need to be on blood thinning injections that I do myself for 2 weeks, not fun as I hate needles so much.
I'm not high risk and have had an easy pregnancy up until now, baby doesn't seem to be affected. He's still as active as ever and I just feel like I've got a bad cold. One of my friends said it's not needed unless it's high risk 😩

They also seem to be taking the mick with getting me the injections considering it's important apparently. I've been told 3 different ways on where to get them and I was told I'd have them by the end of the day 😂 they're ringing me tomorrow and asking me how they're going and I haven't had one yet!

Did Covid affect anyone's baby or they're pregnancy?

Not covid but I'm on the blood thinning injections as I had an operation this week, but I'm definitely not high risk it's just a precaution ☺️ My husband does them for me in the top of my thigh as I'm so terrified of needles. I'd definitely recommending getting someone to do it for you if it's an option! They aren't that bad, just don't rub it after or you'll bruise. Good luck, hope you are okay 💕

I tested positive for Covid at 33 weeks and wasn't told/given anything about blood thinners or any injections. I literally just had to tell midwife and call if anything got bad

Luckily my symptoms were bare minimum and I'd not long had my second jab so I was well protected

I take daily blood-thinning injections (for a different reason) - I got the medication by phoning my GP and once I explained the situation to them they sent an emergency prescription through to a pharmacy of my choice for next day collection. If you're struggling to get the medication maybe try that route? (You might need to use a pharmacy with a home delivery option if you don't have anyone who could collect the prescription for you, though).

One of the big concerns with COVID in pregnancy is the increased risk of blood clots, which can be harmful for you and for your baby, so the injections are important. Another option could be to phone your community midwives or maternity triage and see if someone could drop off a few days' supply for you?

I had the same with getting hold of the bloody things - pharmacy delivered them but I was on about day 5 before they actually got to me because the PCR took ages then so did the pharmacy.

It’s important you do take them when you get them though as pregnancy makes your blood more “sticky”.

Forgot to say - I was absolutely fine, had a growth scan etc and no problems with baby or I. It was really very mild for me which I thank the vaccination for!

Hope you have a mild case too

Really important that you take the injections as soon as you get hold of them. You really don't want a blood clot on your lungs or in your placenta.
In the meantime drink plenty of water, keep as active as you can at home whilst isolating, and call your GP or 111 if you feel you're developing shortness of breath or chest pain.

I had Covid when I was 30 weeks. Neither the hospital or midwife offered me the blood thinning injections, only read about them here on mumsnet. I have asked my hospital and my midwife about it last week, they said you only need it if your pregnancy is high risk ( I belive they give you different advice depending where you at)
I'm 37+5 now, baby is doing well, hasn't been effected by the Covid ( had 3 scans since, so far everything is good)

I'm on blood thinning injections because I had IVF and my clinic prescribed it due to previous losses.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hugs to you, if you're double vaxxed you should be just fine :)

I had covid at 35/36 weeks, me qnd baby are fine. She came at emcs qt 37 weeks due to liver and kidney issues with me but nit related to me having had covid. She was perfectly healthy and a very good weight qt 7lbs 13oz (I also had GD and baby was off the charts at growth scans)

I had to phone midwife to inform them and they mentioned blood thinners then too but I was already taking them as considered high risk for blood clots in pregnancy. (I'm still taking them now as was told I had to carry on 6 weeks after the c section)

They also mentioned they would have done growth scans due to covud but I was already having them. I think each trust is different how they approach it. Midwife called to check in on me over the isolation period a few times, but might have been because I was a high risk pregnancy)

I have covid now at 28 weeks, was told that because I was low risk there was no need for blood thinners and to continue as usual with managing symptoms. But I suppose different trusts have different criteria
