32 wks, low lying placenta, natural birth?

32wks - told throughout had a textbook low risk pregnancy.

I have a growth scan yesterday in which my low lying placenta was mentioned by sinographer. Nothing was mentioned by consultant. By me or sonogarpher it seems. Consultant even mentioned going to the birth centre.

Came home and looked more into it in the evening and now I'm worried.

It's not covering the cervix but has not moved up.

I've got my heart set on a birth center (esp attractive during covid) and natural birth.

Definitely do not want a c section.

I'm very fortunate to live somewhere which many birthing options with regard to hospital Trusts. If I use the birth center I need to ask to be transferred from one Trust to the other. BUT if it came down to intervention or C section I would 100% want to stay with the Trust I'm currently with.

Has anyone else had a low lying placenta and natural birth? Or do I need to start getting my head into the right headspace for a C-section and stop the Trust transfer asap?

Trying to keep calm but it's definitely worrying..

As long as it's not covering your cervix you should be fine for birth centre birth.

I had a water birth with a low lying placenta. It was lovely. I hope that gives you some encouragement OP.

If you need to be transferred it may not necessarily result in a CS.

If you are feeling anxious about the birth centre being in a different Trust can you ask if you could go to the Maternity unit you feel most comfortable with if you needed a transfer? I can’t think why this couldn’t be accommodated unless distance makes it unreasonable.

Or if you still have niggling anxiety, how about going for a natural birth in the unit which you prefer and then you would be there already if you or your baby needed assistance?

I think it is important to be where you feel most relaxed (unless your maternity team advise otherwise) and that is going to be individual for each of us. For some women the birth centre or home feels more relaxing for others it is the obstetric unit with all the technology, team of professionals, medication and so on.

I wish you a lovely birth wherever you choose to be.

What does it say in your notes? X if it was concern they would have told you i think. It may be low but still out of the way and not be a problem. So try not to worry. If they havent said anything dont google it then x
