Hi all,
Me and partner had a trip out today which took 2 hrs to get there and same on the way home. I was driving 6 weeks pregnant and stoped half way on the way up but didn't on the way home. I really felt like I should of stopped tho.
Would Driving this long of a distance affect the pregnancy in anyway. I'm slightly paranoid I know so kind comments please x

I did an intensive driving course while 5 months pregnant, and a driving test. 6hrs a day of lessons. No problems.

Second pregnancy i drove north yorkshire to London several times. Again no problems.

The only problem you might have is that you’re more tired than usual and might find a longer drive harder to manage.

I also found that the further on in my pregnancy I got the less I wanted to be away from home in case something happened and I had to go to an unfamiliar hospital.

Thank you for all the reassurance it really does help.

I mean this kindly, but what are you worried about this for?

(Ie if you were 7 months the seatbelt might cut in to you etc)

Dollywilde · 22/12/2021 22:46

Really not. I was driving 1.5hrs to my parents’ regularly up until my due date. Hospital was 45 mins away in the middle so wasn’t ever worried about being too far away Smile

Baby will be fine, only concern like a PP says is if you’re too tired. As it was I did a lot of driving throughout pregnancy - in the early part because I was the designated driver for friends/DH as the sober one, and in late pregnancy just because I was so bloody bored on maternity leave that I wanted to get out of the house!

I was doing 4 hour round trips at 8-9mo. You'll be fine.

In the nicest possible way.. most people don't know they are even pg at 6 weeks. Most work up until late pregnancy and drive about: maybe for hours. It's not an illness unless you have bad sickness

There’s no difference to driving or sitting in a chair at this stage there’s nothing pulling or digging in your bump nor are you struggling reach the peddles. Are you having stomach pain and it feels uncomfortable??

Driving long distances is not going to impact your pregnancy

Firsttimetrier · 23/12/2021 14:15

Shouldn’t have any impacts, you may just need more toilet breaks than usual as pregnancy really does increase how much you need to wee 😂
