Worried about getting covid while being pregnant

Has anyone had covid while being pregnant has this affected the baby?

@Alychloe sorry but a supposed pharmacist who doesn’t understand statistics and risk to pregnant women and baby of covid is not someone I would have any respect for. I’m amazed you consider yourself knowledgable on this. It’s clearly not the case. In fact I sincerely doubt you are in a scientific field - there are no ‘beliefs’ about Covid. There are facts.

Alychloe · 23/12/2021 13:47

@RisingStarsToday ah yes I mean if I was going to lie about being in the scientific field I would have thought of something even better than a pharmacist. Anyway, let’s just be real about your posted articles.

  1. All posts are pre omicron - if you weren’t aware delta is pretty much dormant because it has mutated into the weaker strain AKA omicron. Please post more up to date articles about the current strain.
  1. Only a few of those articles have given information on the women and for those that’s details were mentioned; the majority of the women were either BAME or overweight - of which we know for a fact as it’s been cited in many stats are 2 high risk factors for COVID. Thus we know regardless of pregnancy the chances of them being admitted to hospital were relatively high.

So not only are your articles out of date for the current situation we also do not know each individuals medical circumstance. Therefore, you are scaremongering for healthy women with a healthy BMI and not in any risk factor category who may have OMICRON. Maybe we should ask more about each individuals circumstance before trying to terrify :)

My neighbour did (pre vaccination being available). Baby had to be be born early by a c section and was very, very poorly. Luckily she is OK now but there was a good chance she wouldn’t have been.

You absolutely should get vaccinated. Immediately.

Bluepop09 · 23/12/2021 19:10

@supersonicginandtonic My post is factual based on my own experience. I know of 4 people who died from Covid. All 4 were double jabbed. I know of many others who have had Covid and recovered, 90% of them unvaccinated and 10% vaccinated. So yeah, I'll base my opinion on what I've witnessed first hand.

Dochas1211 · 25/12/2021 18:27

Gosh @Alychloe I hope you are planning to contact the NHS and inform them they are scaremongering too. You should also contact the CDC and HSE and inform them you are a ‘professional’ and your ‘beliefs’ about covid are that it’s scaremongering to point out unvaccinated pregnant women are high risk 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

You're at higher risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19 if you're pregnant . If you get COVID-19 late in your pregnancy, your baby could also be at risk

It's strongly recommended that you get vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect you and your baby.

I have just tested positive for Covid, I have had my first jab and my second one was booked for next week. I only feel like I have a strong head cold and as of yet have no symptoms. I have aching in my hips/sides area, and obviously brain going into overdrive I am concerned that something is going to go wrong, I cannot remember if I had this feeling before testing positive. Any advice? I haven't been able to get in touch with my midwife as of yet, and just need a bit of reassurance that everything is going to be okay. I am trying to avoid google as much as possible as I am an over thinker.

EffoffDelta · 28/12/2021 17:26

Naahh, you can't be that worried surely, if you've chosen not to get vaccinated? (unless of course you cannot have a vaccine for medical reasons, in which case I feel for you)

supersonicginandtonic · 31/12/2021 08:48

@Bluepop09 come back when you've worked through it and received the regular emails from the NHS trust. What you're saying is dangerous

Createacalmspace30 · 04/06/2022 21:34

I'm new to this thread I've been reading alot of people opinions on the whole covid scenario also what most of you guys experiences I say each to there own also there are alot of people that have died taking this vaccine pregnant or not old or young also the vaccine has made people sick with illnesses that were not present before the vaccine or made there illnesses worse wich resulted in death hence for so much people out there that are still not vaccinated because they are scared they are not sure weather they are coming or going woth the whole thing . This is just my opinion I'm 24 weeks pregnant and not vaccinated I also have bronchitis asthma I was admitted to hospital on the 30th with kidney infection and contracted covid whilst I was staying in hospital I am having temp of 38 wich I have managed to keep at bay and really bad sore throat wich I make ginger and garlic tea to drink to help and bring up any mucus .
