Has anyone got any info that can help me? Have ringworm (joys of working with kids!) and have a cream from doctors (risk unknown to baby but told it should be ok as only small amount etc) I have read that tea tree oil is fab for it but also that pregnant woman should be careful?? Can i use it, and is it the lesser of two evils? I'm 11 weeks by the way

I don't see any problems with it as long as you apply it topically (i.e. don't drink the stuff!)

I'd hasten to add I'm not a medical professional, just a firm believer in common sense

I couldn't find a definitive answer to this and my GP didn't want to advise as she didn't know either. I got covered in mosquito bites at 7/8 months and was going crazy after a couple of days so just went for it - oh what sweet relief.

I too thought as it was being used topically that it would be okay.

But yes must add caveat, I don't know if this was safe or not by the book.

I looked this up online a while ago for me and found that most sites seemed to say its ok, although not too sure about that early on, as I am 39 weeks and only looked it up about 2 weeks ago, so wouldn't have bothered looking into early pregnancy details.

I did have a list somewhere, of all essential oils and which are safe to use during pregnancy and which arn't. If I find it before you get a definate answer, I will let you know!

Thanks all for the replies, i'm kind of thinking that the prescribed cream has risks so cannot be worse than that! Thought i might use tea tree oil soap as this might help stop it spreading and help a little. Think i might just go for it and use the oil sparingly.

I had a horse with ringworm, and the vet told me not to apply the treatment cream as it could make women of childbearing age infertile. I didn't get it and wasn't pregnant at the time. I don't want to panick you but use it with caution. I often think you have better info from the vets than Doctors!
