I know it's a silly question so please kind comments.
I'm 6 weeks pregnant and need to take a lateral flow test for covid. Are they safe to use in pregnancy. I just remember before I was they had a chemical type taste.

They are fine to do. My hospital asks for proof that you've done 1 before any scans etc.
I've never noticed a taste to the cotton bud but I've only done 1 which swabs the throat. All my others are just nose 1s

It's just a cotton swab that you put in your nose and/or throat. There is no chemical on the swab. You shouldn't be tasting any chemical. You swab, then mix into the plastic tube with chemical liquid then put a few drops of that onto the testing bit.

Completely safe. There is no reagent on the swab and it is completely sterile. Your biggest problem might be swabbing the tonsils if you are suffering from pregnancy nausea or sickness but the more recent kits are nose swab only.

I work in a care home and take 2-3 lateral flow tests a week plus 2 pcr tests, they're definitely safe during pregnancy! x
