Acid reflux and sickness- gp won't help

Hi
I'm nearly 7 weeks. Have had crippling acid reflux since before I even got the positive test. Can't lay down. Can't stop coughing. Struggling to eat and drink because it feels like the acid pushes everything back up.
Been feeling nauseous and dizzy for the past 2 weeks too. Today the vomiting has started.
Rang the gp to ask for a phone consult and got told they weren't doing any appointments because they're prioritising covid jabs. Receptionist passed a message on for me and gp has responded just saying try rennies or gaviscon which I am and have been for weeks with no luck.
Is there anything I can do or do I just need to accept this is how it is?

I would go back to your GP & explain you've already tried rennies & gaviscon & they've been useless - I think they are either just fobbing you off or think you might not have tried them if you were worried about taking whilst pregnant or something.
When I went to my GP, I did an e consult & explained in detail everything I'd already tried and for how long and that it hadn't been effective at all.
Got a prescription for omeprazole which was a life saver.
The standard advice is to only eat small meals, not late at night at all, sleep with you head elevated or left side only, keep a food diary to see if anything specific causes a flare up & then avoid and see if it improves etc etc
Nothing worked for me until I got the omeprazole, only had to take it for a few weeks and I felt 100% better.
Definitely contact your GP again and reiterate how long it's been going on & that you've already tried everything else.

It’s an absolute scandal. It’s almost as though they want to make the health of the nation worse and make people suffer unnecessarily. You can buy omeprazole online from Superdrug Doctor:

Not that you should have to! Prescriptions are free for you now.

They've stopped e consults too as they're too busy.
Have since spoke to a pharmacist who won't sell me omeprazole without the gp advising it as I'm pregnant, and 111 who said I need to go via the gp.
How is anyone meant to get health care at the minute when such a basic request is so challenging?!

The government has asked GPs to prioritise covid jabs in the hope of staving off more covid restrictions.
It's a sorry state of affairs but this country hasn't trained the number of nurses or doctors we need for a decade, and now we are all paying the price.
You could try booking a private GP appointment if you are desperate.

Put in a written complaint to your practice manager - worked for me!
