Morning all,

I've justed tested positive for covid at 27+1 and feeling quite anxious. What should I do (if anything!) Do I need to tell my midwife or GP about it?

Sorry to hear this. No, you don't need to do anything apart from isolate (which I'm sure you are already doing) if you feel ok just manage it at home.

The GP will get the results of your PCR test. They would only advise that, if you experience any difficulty breathing, you call an ambulance.

Contact the midwife if there are reduced movements.
I hope you have a speedy recovery Flowers

I actually would contact your midwife. I’m earlier on than you, but I was given blood thinning injections from 10 days and told my GP will need to monitor my oxygen levels at various points. It might depend on your trust and the plans they have in place, but definitely worth ringing.

When I had it I rang the midwife to cancel an appointment, and got put on “covid watch” so basically I got sent a pulse oximetre and blood thinners, and a consultant rang me every few days. I also got sent in for a precautionary growth scan.

I was absolutely fine and had really mild symptoms so it felt a bit overkill but at least I was looked after!

I’d let them know personally

@AliceS1994 hope you’re not feeling too bad.

When I saw the midwife this week she said contact immediately if I test positive as they want to put you on a certain blood thinner or something like that. Get in touch asap

Contact your midwife, I'm 34 weeks and she has drilled into me every appointment that I need to let her know if I get a positive result.

Keep active around the house as much as possible and drink plenty to reduce your risk of blood clots. And agree, contact the midwife to see if you now need blood thinning injections.
Finally ask relatives and friends to drop round treats for your isolation period.
And give 111 a call if you start feeling chest pains or shortness of breath over the next week.

You do need to contact your midwife. I think it says you do on the text confirming your covid test was positive.
I had covid a few weeks ago and my midwife was very concerned indeed and couriered over a pulse oximeter and blood thinning injections to me. They also rang me every other day to check on me.
I wasn't too ill, by the way. My husband was much worse than me!

Tina8800 · 19/12/2021 20:16

Had Covid at 30 weeks. Give my hospital and my midwife a call but they weren't concerned at all (double vaccinated and had only mild symptoms). They didn't even offered me blood thinning injections (they said no need if the pregnancy is low risk). You should definitely give them a call and ask what you need to do.

Yes ring midwife or own GP. Pregnant women are now on the clinically vulnerable list and some may be eligible for antiviral medications to help fight covid19 as of Mid December.

I had fragmin injections for ten days
