I was told to kneel on the sofa (knees right up to the edge) then put your hands on the floor, so your pelvis is in the air and your head lower down. Hold position for 30 seconds. Repeat once or twice. It stretches everything out to make room for baby to move into correct position.

I also seem to remember my hupnobirthing midwife/teacher pointing me to something called 'spinning babies'?! I think it's positions to help get baby in position if transverse, so take a look online.

Apparently lots more babies are transverse these days due to comfy sofas / tilted car seats / all these comforts which tilt our pelvis back. Luxuries we didn't used to have back in the day! So sit on a ball at night not sofa! Or clean the floors on your hands and knees lol. Good luck! X

My first was transverse and stayed that way. I was admitted at 38 weeks as a precaution and then had section at 39 weeks. I was offered the option of an ECV with immediate induction if it was successful but I declined

My son turned in the end but was transverse for ages; I seem to remember reading that if they won't turn and are transverse at full term, c-section is the only option for delivery (because they literally can't be born vaginally if they're sideways)? Spinning Babies is great, I never actually had to do any exercises though. Your medical team should explain it fully to you; maybe call your midwife if it wasn't clear enough, they'll know. Have you heard of the BRAIN method of questioning? Really useful to understand your options.

My daughter was oblique then started to go transverse at 38 weeks, my midwife sent me in to be scanned, and while waiting for the scan I bounced on a birthing ball for 2 hours, that did the trick! Had it not, I'd have been admitted there and then. She stayed head down and was born vaginally a week later, all was well. Used the birthing ball during labour too Grin

My second was breech at 37 then transitioned to transverse by 39 weeks, I had an emergency section with my first so was booked in for a section when they realised she wasn't shifting to avoid a repeat.

I was booked in at 38 weeks for 39+5 and scanned beforehand to check positioning.

DS was oblique, had him via c-section at 36 weeks (for other reasons - he was oblique because I had a really odd placenta and vasa praevia). The c-section was very straightforward, nothing to worry about at all.

My now 8 week old baby was transverse until quite late on. Using the spinning babies website was great and I did a lot of the inversions, lots of lying on all fours with your head down and bum in the air, bouncing etc, she did turn eventually. My lovely midwife warned that if she hadn’t I would have been admitted and given a section as it can be dangerous to go into spontaneous labour in this position. But have faith and start doing those inversion now!

My first was transverse from 34 - 39w.
It's a no joke situation although you and baby actually feel fine.
I had other complications so was hospitalised the entire time.
Elective CS booked for 39w. Steroid shots to help baby's lungs I think in w 38
I could walk round the grounds but had the above advice of if I went into labour to hit the nearest panic button, get down on all fours, hips at apex, reach in and push baby back up. I walked a lot though never outside hospital grounds. I don't know if that helped.
There was an internal scan to detect baby's precise position before the Elective CS which discovered she had turned. I'd been in terrible discomfort just before the scan. Babies turning isn't fun.
Once she turned, consultants kept plans updated for emergency CS but we were going to attempt natural birth in a first instance.
It all went well no drama at 40w with an induction.

Good luck.
You'll hopefully have that baby to kiss goodnight soon!

My second was transverse, but it wasn't a big deal as I was planning a section anyway after a failed induction and emergency section first time around. I wasn't admitted until the morning of the section, but whether that's because it was during covid or because I never went into labour on my first and so was unlikely to with a baby nowhere near my cervix I don't know.

It did cause a few little problems during my section because of her size (9lb 12) - it can be hard for them to get them out as there's nothing to pull if they're back down! But it was all very calm and cheerful and once we left theatre all was straightforward for both of us.

If the baby has turned, you're in the clear. Go for the natural birth.
Babies can be funny that way, even before they are born. They keep you on your toes.
Your family just love you and want what is best and the baby has scared them. You and your docs are informed and in control. You're doing great.
