Baby and dog car solutions

I’m a FTM and baby is due in 6 weeks. We have a 33kg dog who usually travels in the backseat, restrained by a dog seatbelt. We’re trying to find solutions for the best way for baby and dog to travel in the car.

We always planned to have the dog in the boot but he’s a really anxious dog and our attempts to get him in the boot so far have not gone well. We’re going to persevere though in case we have a breakthrough!

But just in case that’s not successful, I was wondering if anyone knew of anything we could have in the back with the baby and the dog that would create a barrier between them?

We have a 7 seater and 6 kids. Dog goes in the boot fine and I take the baby carrier if I take them all out to a park further afield. Pram goes in middle row if I'm taking dog to vets with baby. The pram lives in the boot most of the time.
Our dog is a similar size to yours, the boot is open so she can see us if she wants and I use a lead tied to boot anchor to stop her going far when I open boot.

Positive reinforcement, treats for going in the boot. Like anything, you'll have to train your dog to go in there.

@nannybeach

Bloated,my comment wasn't directed at you,no offense was intended. A lot of the Doggy slings are attached to the vehicle but the dog is just laying unrestrained in there.
Most of them have a hole in for attaching the dog’s harness to a seat belt port though

Our dog used to be anxious in the boot (often had to be lifted in).We got a boot divider (kind of cage thing so dog goes safely in one half, everything else in the other) and he's much better. I think he feels safer now with the divider in and he has his own space (almost like a crate). No problem hopping in now!
My brothers dog was similar and they also got one for their car and same, much happier dog
