Brown blood in 8th week

Hiya,

I am in my 8th week of pregnancy and have every time I go to the loo and wipe there is brown blood in the paper. This is the 2nd day now and I have been having quite bad cramps too.
When I called the early pregnancy unit they said not to bother to come in as it was most likely nothing.
Any one have any similar experience?

Due to a similar scare last week (but with only 1 instance of brown blood - not 2 days worth) I had a scan and it should the baby and the yolk sac all intact and in place.

Thanks

Hi Mum2b1
I had brown bleeding at 6 10 and 13 weeks, which a one point was fairly heavy with a little red blood - each time I had scans at EPU and all was fine - touchwood none since and now I'm 19 weeks - they could find no explaination for the bleed, apparently it does happen to lots of women but I'd always check with MW/EPU if it happens.
Hope yours gets better soon as I know how worrying it can be.

I think you should ring back, emphasise that you are having cramps and ask them to see you. I know that brown blood is meant to be better than red but better gettign it checked out.
I don't want to worry you but when I mc it started with brown blood (changed to red quite quickly though)- however, this doesn't mean it is happening to you; LOTS of MNers have had brown bleeding and gone on to have successful pregnancies. Best to get it checked anyway though IMO.
Good luck

I think it is a worrying sign, but it is also too early to really know what is going on.

Hi M2b1

I have had brown bleeding with this and myprevious pg, whilst it is very worrying it does not necessarily mean that you are heading for a m/c. in my case I have had early scans which indicated that I had very early loss of a twin pregnancy sac. This is actually very common, but most women are not aware that they are m/c a twin because they are not scanned that early. I went on to have a healthy pg and I am currently in the middle of my 2 nd pg and had brown bleeding with both (I bled for over 1-2 weeks). i also often had cramping at the same time. I also previously had a m/c.....this experience was very different....lots of red blood and very severe cramps. Unless you are experiencing a significant increase in bleeding (brown or red) and presisant and painful cramps...I would try not to worry.

BTW: I was assured by a very kind midwife when I mced....that had I remained in bed for the duration of my pg...I would still have m/ced. In otherwords, there is nothing you can do to prevent a m/c but equally so, you should try and live life as normal.

hope this helps
