Prepping bottles for night feeds

Hi all,

I'm currently 34w with my first baby and would like some advice with regards to night feeds. I know it's not recommended to pre make your bottles or even pre boil the water and add formula when it's cooled but this is what I was hoping to do to make life slightly easier WinkHas anyone ever had any issues with doing this? Most mums I know have done this and babies been fine, but just wondering whether the formula you use matters with regards to it being safe. Please no comments about breast feeding, I also have a pump and am going to try that I'm just a nervous mama to be looking for some advice for if it doesn't work out. Thank you Smile

To be honest if I could go back I'd have used the prefect prep with my first too as there was so much scaremongering i breast fed too long and it took such a toll on my mental health. Yes there are tiny risks to alot of choices we make but it is up to the parents to make an informed choice and do what is best for their given situation/s.
I thought like you @Kanfuzed123 and do agree with what you're saying. I realised the risk was so tiny and the prefect prep worked for me and my second child (it was a tiny risk I was willing to take after reading all of the data and conclusions). The risks feeding my child other ways were greater for me personally.

We had a second perfect prep upstairs. Put the formula powder in the bottles in advance then just made them up as needed.

You can get them second hand everywhere.

I also had done the whole milk in back of fridge but running down in the middle of the night was exhausting, not working and disturbing dc1! The perfect prep was the fastest safest way to feed dc2 in the night out of the options available. I couldn't used the ready made as he would spit that up and it didn't agree with him. I don't want anybody to feel bad about the option you choose (reading this thread) as sometimes it really is the best possible for you and your family.

I wish we had a perfect prep when DS was born but money was too tight!

We pre-made the bottles with boiled water, flash cooled them and put them in the fridge. When DS woke I'd boil the kettle and heat the bottle in a bowl of boiling water. Did this on the advice of a midwife!

I made up the bottles before bed, cooled them and put them in the fridge.
Then in the middle of the night, I put the bottle in a jug of hot water to warm it before feeding baby

I did this with both my children. I also made a 24 hour batch each day. Youngest is now 6 months and i couldn't imagine making a bottle every few hours.
