37 weeks & not sleeping more than hour at a time - really affecting me physically & mentally. I can’t imagine this getting even worse post partum

Have heard magical myths of women feeling actually more rested after birth as they sleep more even with a newborn - anyone had this happen ? Feel like I’m going out of my mind

I slept so much better with twin newborns than I did for the last couple of months of pregnancy. It was so much easier, I could move!

Yes yes! I slept so badly in 3rd trimester and having a newborn was so easy by comparison!! I was absolutely huge by the end (she was born over 9.5lbs Shock) but I think her huge size meant you could fill Up her belly so she’d sleep 5/6/7 sometimes 8 hours on a row from birth so I felt like I had more energy than I had in months! I woke her to feed for a bit then realised she was the size of many 3 month olds so she’s be fine…! At 6 months now though I can only dream of such long stretches of sleep…!!

I don't know about more sleep (although I quickly discovered how to breastfeed lying down which was a lifesaver) but there is no tiredness like pregnancy tiredness as far as I'm concerned. I would take having a newborn over the absolute bone crushing soul sucking weariness of pregnancy any day. You're nearly there OP

I had horrific pregnancy insomnia. I might have had broken sleep once baby was here but at least I could get to sleep. While pregnant is just sit there (I had to sleep sat up due to bad heartburn too) and count the hours.

No.

DS was breech and his head under my ribs was so uncomfortable I barely slept, but I did rest, I was also up and down all night to wee.

DS is now 13 weeks old. And he’s never slept for more than two hours at a time. If he régresses from that Im going to leave him outside the local fire station. Hé naps, randomly, usually while being pushed along at a good pace in his buggy.

So I’ve not really slept for about 4 months. Sorry. You might have better luck, it’s extremely random as to what baby you’ll get.

Yup, me. I was up most of the night for the last few months. Up and down to the toilet about 40 times a night, in agony, could hardly move. After she was born she basically oy got up for one feed during the night.

I had rubbish sleep in the last trimester of my twin pregnancy. Then once they were born, I had more rest as they slept for 3 hour intervals overnight, and I wasn’t dealing with an enormous bump.

Unfortunately they got worse with age and at 7.5 months I am pretty exhausted with crap night sleep, teething and leaps.

Still not as bad as the last trimester of pregnancy though!
