Hi I was hoping there is someone who could help me I had my 20 week scan on Monday and was told all was well and to wait in the waiting room for the receptionist to give me my next appointment. I was scheduled to have dating scans from 32 weeks as my 3 other children have all been under 5.5lb .
As we're waiting the sonographer
Called me and my husband back into the room and said while she was writing the report she has noticed the baby's head is on the 5th centiile 164.3 mm the AC 138.9 FL 30.5
I have to go back in 2 weeks for a repeat scan
I'm really worried as my 16 year old has a chromosome deletion that is not from me and my ex husband. It was a de Nova
I did the dreaded Google and now I'm absolutely petrified has anyone ever gone through this before with a positive outcome x

I have something similar at the moment. Was told baby’s overall measurements were around the 5th but head was below the 3rd centile and they were talking about amniocentesis and sending me for an mri so they could look at baby’s brain. When we went for a further scan 2 weeks later all measurements were around the 10th and same again another two weeks later. When I asked if first measurements were just wrong they said it might be that (due to baby position or image quality) or might just be that baby had a late growth spurt or might be that dating scan was out. I know it’s so hard not to worry but try not to obsess over individual measurements. Firstly it’s the trend that’s most important (that’s why they make you wait the excruciating 2 weeks) and honestly at this point even a millimetre or so makes a difference to the centile.

Thank you so much for replying I'm so grateful
That's great news I'm so pleased for you. It's such a worry isn't it , my consultant said not to worry I called today but I'm a so bad for panicking and letting my mind word run away with me. I was shocked as during the scan the sonographer was so adamant everything was ok & commented he was moving a lot.
Thank you again.

They always tell you not to worry but it’s totally normal to do so. Once thing I did during the two weeks was start taking omega three supplements (pregnancy safe ones) and increase my protein intake a bit. It’s likely these things made no difference but I figured it would make me feel like I was doing something and wouldn’t do any harm.

I had similar at 26 weeks (I was scanned for another issue but they still did measurements) and I was so worried. I googled absolutely everything.

Anyway, believe it or not when she was born her head was on the 98th centile! I think there is a large margin of error on scan measurements. Don't panic yet.

Thank you, I'll definitely try the supplements and increasing my protein intake, I struggle with eating I've had an eating disorder in the past and it seems to have reared it's head in pregnancy I did wonder if that could of contributed to the babies size of who knows I need to back away from Google!!!!

Thank you for all your help it has definitely eased my mind a little x
