Booster jab in late pregnancy

Just wondering if anyone else has had the covid booster jab in very late pregnancy- like 36 weeks onwards? I've booked mine for a few day's time and I'll be 38 weeks. I've had my other 2 vaccine/jabs absolutely fine no issues- but for some reason I'm feeling really hesitant about the booster. Not sure whether to just wait another 3 weeks until baby is here?

I'm 33 weeks and going to wait to get the booster until after baby arrives. I had my second jab pretty much 3 months ago. I'm being super cautious and basically shielding until birth. My thinking is I'm more likely to catch covid at the vaccine centre than anywhere else, as I'm not actually going anywhere else!

Safety wise though I had both jabs during pregnancy and dont see why the booster would be any different.

I’ve just had mine yesterday and I’m 38+2… I was really nervous about being on a ward with non vaccinated people… as it has been 6 months since I had my 2nd dose, I’m 31 but do have asthma so had my doses early

The baby has been moving just fine.. I did have aches this morning but I couple of paracetamol this morning and I’m back to normal 😊

I’m 39+2 - my doctor has said to wait until after birth, as the side effects of the booster plus labour might be a bit much! She said people seem to be having more side effects with the booster - I had some to the first jab but not the second. But I also had AZ, so my third jab will be different.

I’m booked in for the end of Jan, which was the soonest slot I could get anyway.

I haven’t heard anything suggesting it can harm the baby.

I have mine booked for exactly 40 weeks. Midwife said no reason why I shouldn't have it then. I figured side effects make make me tired for labour but I don't fancy side effects when in the sleep deprived newborn stage either. Thought I'd get it out the way

How long is it since your last jab OP? If it's closer to 3 months then it might be reasonable to delay until after you give birth, but I think if it's over 5 months then you should really consider getting the booster as soon as possible as your protection from the first 2 jabs will be really starting to wane.

I can't imagine you're going to feel up to going out and getting a jab in the first 2 weeks after birth either, so I would get it over and done with if I were you and get protected asap.

Also just FYI I had my booster at 32 weeks without issue, nothing more than a sore arm for half a day. Well worth it @Makingnumber2

I had mine today, at 38 weeks. Feeling fine : )

I have mine booked in for Tuesday when I'll be 37+4, thought it was better to have it than not to. Mentioned it to my midwife today and she didn't have any issues with me getting it that late on. Only thing I'm worried about is potentially having side effects and going into labour but that's a risk I'm willing to take to be fully protected (and my second jab was only just over 3 months ago)

I’ve just had mine at 30 weeks, had a sore arm and a headache but nothing a couple of paracetamol can’t fix

I'm booked in for induction on the 18th (this Saturday). The earliest appointment I can get is Tuesday 21st. Realistically I might not be out of hospital by that point, so I'm going to see how I get on with labour, how I'm getting on with recovery and being a new mum, and book it as soon as I feel ready.

Thanks for sharing your experiences all. I think I was dithering because I don’t have a midwife appmt beforehand so can’t discuss with a professional. I’m going to have it. Rates round here are some of the highest in country. Hopefully they won’t make me wait in queue long as I’m worried about exposure to virus from attending the vax centre. But I have an FP2 mask which will hopefully see me right! Good luck to all of you with the remainder of your pregnancies and your upcoming births 😊
