Different booster to other jabs is this an issue?

Hi everyone,

Anyone aware of any info regarding which type of booster you should get when pregnant?

I’m about 10 weeks and I had Pfizer for both first and second vaccinations pre pregnancy.

I’m booked in for a booster this week but just found out the location only providers Moderna. Is it a problem mixing vaccines whilst pregnant? If I a was over 12 weeks I think I’d feel a bit more confident but have a bit of anxiety pre 12 weeks due to previous loses.

Thanks for any information xx

I think a lot (most?) of the boosters are different. I had AZ followed by Pfizer booster and I think that's very common.

(Can't comment specifically on the pregnancy aspect though)

I wouldn't worry at all. I think the advice was Moderna and Pfizer are preferable in pregnancy.

I had my second dose of Moderna at 6 weeks pregnant and my Pfizer booster at 27 weeks, yesterday :)

I had my first and second doses v early in my pregnancy and got Pfizer. 32 weeks now and yesterday got moderna. I was told both are safe for me. No side effects either other than sore arm x

I just got my Moderna booster at 8 weeks after two initial doses of AZ. I had pretty bad side effects after my first AZ dose but fairly mild side effects after the booster (sore arm, feeling a bit achy and fatigued but the fatigue may just be from pregnancy). Definately no fever.

Although I was a bit concerned about possible side effects I was more concerned about the effects of catching Covid than the effects of the booster. With the high rates of Covid in the UK generally and the Omicron variant that can more easily infect double vaccinated people I felt much safer after getting the booster.

Hi!

Glad to have come across this post. I am 14 weeks + 5 and just had my moderna booster today.
Was double jabbed prior to falling pregnant with Pfizer. Asked lots of questions as I was a bit taken back when they told me I was having moderna but they were fantastic and assured me the mix was safe being pregnant. Hope this helps, I was like aaaah afterwards but I did my research before hand about the mix and they just clarified it xxx

I had 2x AZ and pfizer as a booster
Moderna and Pfizer are given as boosters and I don't think it matters which you get

mugglenutmeg · 07/01/2022 07:18

I'm not pregnant but I got 2x AZ and the a Pfizer. They told me when getting my booster that mixing them gave better immunity.

No idea....but my DD has had omicron in our home and I have we remained immune. So something is working!

GoodnightGrandma · 07/01/2022 07:19

You aren’t mixing. There’s no problem with the booster being different, and it might actually be advantageous.

Jonesy88 · 07/01/2022 07:21

I had the Moderna booster at 34 weeks and Pfizer initial vaccinations at 4 and 12 weeks. Sore arm with all 3, bit snotty with Pfizer but that could’ve been pregnancy congestion.

Hi OP I'm a vaccinator

You're lucky to have 2 x Pfizer and a Moderna booster, there is research suggesting that mixing primes the immune system a little beater.
I had 3 x Pfizer and would be happy if I could get a Moderna

Essentially they are the same 'type' of vaccine

Where I work we always have at least 1 person giving Pfizer, even if it's a Moderna session.
Pregnant women have requested a 3rd Pfizer and that's been fine depending on the nurse in charge

Either way well done for getting your vaccination protecting you both Smile
