Covid in third trimester

Has anyone had Covid in their third trimester and everything been all okay? Need some reassurance. I'm 33 weeks - almost 34 - and I've just tested positive on a lat flow test today :( I've ordered a PCR test to confirm, and was having no symptoms, though I feel a bit funny now though not sure if it's just not my anxiety being sky high.
I am double vaccinated btw. Also am near London so not sure if it's this omicron thing :/ I am so so nervous

Get your booster. I'm third tri and had mine. Just go to a walk in and they'll take you straight to the front as the risks to pregnant women are so high

ohwerehalfwaythere · 13/12/2021 18:23

Oh sorry just seen you had a positive LTF. Fingers crossed it's a false positive on OCR X

lavenderlilaclily · 13/12/2021 18:23

@ohwerehalfwaythere they won't give you a booster (or any jab for that matter) if you're currently/have recently been infected with covid - think it's about 28 days.

@ohwerehalfwaythere she can’t go get her booster while covid positive.

OP i no it’s scary but try and relax, you’re double vaccinated which is a huge help. I only no one person who’s had covid while pregnant, she wasn’t vaccinated at all and got covid at 36 weeks and thankfully just had mild cold symptoms, fingers crossed it’s the same for you Flowers

WorriedGiraffe · 13/12/2021 18:26

Sorry cross post there @ohwerehalfwaythere

(((HUG)))

I haven't myself, but my neighbour just has. She was fortunate to only have a mild bout. She's out of isolation now & feels fine & she says everything's fine with her baby boy.

She had two vaccinations too, I think she's getting her booster this week

I really hope you're just the same!

Holskey · 13/12/2021 18:30

You're double jabbed and symptomless. Try to stay calm - there's no reason to believe you'll get it badly. Most people, pregnant or not, get it mildly.

SparklingLime · 13/12/2021 18:32

Have you got an oximeter?

sociallydistained · 13/12/2021 18:36

Keep us informed, OP. I am as far along as you, I turn 34 weeks this Thursday. I’m a nanny and my charges currently have Covid I’m off at the moment but I work for another family too and feel the threat closing in. Just worried about how bad it’ll be considering I’ve just reached the super uncomfortable part of pregnancy anyway. Breathing is hard work as it is.

Really hope you don’t suffer. I think it might be a good idea to let your midwife know.

Hi lovely

I’ve just finished my 10 days with covid. I’m 37 weeks pregnant tomorrow! I’ve been absolutely fine - bit achey and shivery for one night, then a few days of feeling congested. Lost my taste and smell but that’s it and I honestly wouldn’t have known I’d had covid if it weren’t for the positive test and taste/smell thing.

Im very very glad I had the vaccine!

The midwife team will likely be all over you - mine were even though I kept telling them I felt a absolutely fine!

sociallydistained · 13/12/2021 18:41

That’s good to hear @Clarkey86!

Hi,

I had covid when I was 35 weeks pregnant (last December) so I wasn't vaccinated at the time. I was really poorly and weak and was so concerned if I went into labour. However as soon as it passed I regained full health and had no problems at all with any of my labour or with my baby. Just try and rest if you can but don't worry about anything x

Taenia · 14/12/2021 08:03

I had covid at 35 weeks pregnant, I was double vaccinated and it was more like a bad cold. Felt really rough for a few days and then slightly better for for rest. I did find I was more tired so slept most of the 10 day isolation.

Baby was born by emergency c section at 37 weeks but not due to covid and is perfectly healthy - she's now 2 and a half weeks old. The cough lingered and that wasn't so nice following c section. Was probabaly the worse thing about the lot for me.

Derbee · 14/12/2021 08:57

I’m sure you’ll be fine. Make sure you tell your
Midwife - quite a few trusts recommend daily injections to prevent blood clots after a positive covid result, just to be safe. See what they say.

Tina8800 · 14/12/2021 09:58

I had Covid when I was 31 weeks (double vaccinated) Had a positive flow test on day 4 (felt strange, thought I had the cold) and the PCR came back positive the next day. Had mild symptoms all way through (lost of smell and taste was the worst part).
It is promising you are not having any strong symptoms: rest as much as you can and drink plenty liquid. Your baby will be fine! I was extremely worried, and NHS doesn`t offer scan after Covid. Had a privet scan after (and the growth one since too), baby is healthy and growing perfectly.

lavenderlilaclily · 14/12/2021 11:10

thank you everyone for reassurance - it's good to hear people have got through it with mostly mild symptoms and without any big problems

I have started to feel a bit unwell but it's mostly cold symptoms so trying not too worry too much. I do have some chest pain though which is a bit unsettling. I'm going to call the midwife again today.

I didn't know about the blood clot injections!! I'll see what they say.

I've also ordered an oximeter for peace of mind

Definitely contact your midwife/triage line as well. I think pregnant women with Covid get offered injections to reduce the risk of blood clots. I know you are awaiting a PCR test but my understanding is that a false positive is much less likely than a false negative on the LFTs. Good that you’ve ordered an oximeter too - it’s so much more likely than not that you and baby will be completely fine especially since you are double jabbed but still best to take precautions. Hope you are ok!

rainydogday · 14/12/2021 11:31

Keep a close eye on your baby movements, if you start to feel worse or any concerns ring your maternity unit. They will see you. Plenty of
Rest and fluids. Hope it passes quickly x
