Hi there

I am 10 weeks pregnant, and have been taking pregnacare since about 5 weeks. My nausea started around the 6 week mark and progressively got worse, although I haven't physically vomited, I am retching aggressively many times through the day. If I walk or move around, I retch.

I have "mild" IBS and I'm wondering if the pregnacare vitamins are making me feel worse? I am always bloated and have trapped gas.

Please could anyone advise on a sensitive prenatal or any advice on the retching and nausea.

Thank you

Pregnacare made me feel very sick also. I used Zita West vitamins and nausea really reduced with that, plus the formats they are in are more absorbable apparently - eg methyl folate instead of folic acid etc. They cost a fair bit more though

Pregnacare gave me stomach issues and horrible pain...had to go loo after eating instantly... so stop them and see if it goes away x

I've found Boots own brand pregnancy supplements absolutely fine and without the nausea from pregnacare. Pregnacare ones made me feel really nauseated.

You can get a folic acid and vitamin d supplement from boots that is just a tiny small pill. They are the only two vitamins that you really need to try and take -they might be a bit easier. I don’t have ibs but swallowing the big capsules made me puke every time in early pregnancy so the smaller ones were much easier.

Bloating and trapped gas are generally caused by pregnancy hormones, mine was wild and really awful up until about 16 weeks. My DP still can't look at me in the same way, poor guy. I would also recommend the folic acid and vitamin D supplement that Fleur405 talks about - i'm in scotland and my midwife gave me these at my booking appointment

Pregnacare also made me feel really sick. I started taking it at a specific time of day and that helped - now just need to remember when it was! Before bed maybe? So you take it and just fall asleep?

I also switched to a supermarkets own brand of pregnancy vitamins and found them much easier to stomach.

Try a vitamin B6 supplement as well - 50-75mg a day really reduces my nausea. I got it from Holland & Barrett. If I don’t take it for a couple of days my nausea increases quite a bit.
