Nausea suddenly back with a vengeance at 16+5 - anything to worry about/connected to low PAPP A?

I had a decent amount of nausea h throughout first trimester - no vomiting at all and nothing that really stopped me eating, just fairly low level ‘travel sickness’ type. It subsided at around 11 weeks.

I’m now 16+5, suddenly felt horrendously nauseous last night and went to bed early. 9 hours of sleep later, I’ve woken up with the same terrible nausea. No vomiting yet but I can barely move it’s so bad. I’ve also had some terrible persistent headaches over the last week although don’t have one right now.

I know some women get morning sickness/nausea throughout their pregnancy but I’m struggling to find much information about it suddenly coming back so severely? I’ve been told I have low PAPP-A so wondering if it’s anything to do with that or the placenta not functioning correctly? Could my HCG still be high, causing nausea (which again would worry me as I’ve read low PAPP A and high HCG carry higher risk for trisomies - my screening result came back as lower risk but wasn’t that far from the cutoff number).

I was supposed to have my 16 week phone call with the midwife on Tuesday but as yet she’s not called, she’s also not responded to a text I sent her at week 13 yet. So just feeling a bit on my own and worried! I have a high pressure, stressful job which I’ve largely been able to carry on with fine, it’s typical that this debilitating nausea seems to be hitting in a week where I really cannot take any time off. But more than that I’m just worried about my baby and if this is normal. Anyone had anything similar?

Hi! I don’t have any answers for you but I’m week 17 now and still feeling very nauseous. Please don’t feel like you can’t take time off work. I felt the same but then I was persuaded to, and the rest did me so much good. You need to put your health first!

I also have low-ish PAPP-A and high HCG. I haven’t read anything about it leading to higher risk for trisomies. Would you mind sharing where you’ve read this please? Thanks and hoping you feel better soon.

@Lagirl20 Low PAPP A, high HCG, increasing maternal age and greater Michal translucency measurement are all things that increase your week 12 trisomy screening risk result. Mine still came back low risk even though I have low PAPP A (no one ever told me the actual number) and no one mentioned what the HCG was, I’m just wondering now if it’s high because I’m feeling so nauseous. Realistically, if you have high HCG/low PAPP A and your screening still came back low risk it’s probably very little to worry about re: trisomies, I’m just feeling anxious because I feel so poorly.

Thanks for the advice re: time off work Flowers. I will definitely consider it if still feeling so rough tomorrow

Hi OP I had low papp-A and high HCG, with nausea popping up again in weeks 14-18.

Annoying but nothing to worry about. DD totally fine.
