Covid Booster in Early Pregnancy?

Hi,

I have had both my covid jabs and my flu jab before getting pregnant. I’m very much pro vaccines and have zero doubts on getting the booster.

My only question is: is there anything I need to consider re the timing of it?

I got my second dose end of Jul, so about 5 months ago and I’m currently very early pregnant at 6/7 weeks.
Should I go get in now, or should I give it another few weeks until I’m past the 12 week mark?

I’ll speak with GP/midwife about this, but would just appreciate any other thoughts or experience as well.

PS. I work from home so I’m pretty protected from that perspective (ie not in an office, no commute, etc).

Hi op, it’s a personal choice but I recommend it. I had my first one when I was about 3/ 4 weeks and didn’t yet know I was pregnant m and my second one at around 12 weeks and was totally fine, just a sore arm. I’m 32 weeks and getting my booster in a week which can’t come quick enough for me! I only wish if could help with my pregnancy insomnia hence my reply at this hour 🤣 x

I’m in my first trimester and had the same concerns re my booster. Chatted to midwife and asked if I should wait for a bit and she said to get it as soon as offered so I’m booked for next week at 11 weeks. Was nervous too but now glad I’m booked in!

Get it as soon as you can, if you are already 5 months out since your second dose then your protection for you and baby will have fallen significantly.
If you are mixing socially with other people indoors then you are highly likely to meet someone with covid in the next few weeks.
The jabs are safe at any gestation, covid is not!

@Danani I was thinking the same. I have just found out I'm pregnant and only 4 ½ weeks so very early. I have had my 2 vaccines and flu jag but didn't know about weather to leave my booster till a bit later or to get it just now. 🤔 like u I don't have a problem being vaccinated its just what timing is best if any. x

I had my first vaccine when i was about 2-3 weeks (didnt know at the time), had my second one when i was 11 weeks. My midwife has advised I have the booster now but unable to book yet due to my age (should be able to book tomorrow). Ill be 28 weeks on Thursday and baby is growing perfectly.

Personally the thought of getting covid, giving birth and not been able to hold my newborn scares me more than getting the booster jab now.

I'm 38 weeks now and was called for the initial vaccination course at 5 weeks (over 40).

I waited until 13 weeks as the guidance had just changed and I was nervous (despite being 100% pro science and pro vaccination). My GP and midwives had recommended NOT waiting! And in retrospect, I really really wish I hadn't waited. The peace of mind from being vaccinated sooner would have far outweighed my worries about the first trimester - I just didn't know any better then. I ended up being so much more worried about catching Covid before I was fully vaccinated.

@Peaches2020
I'm 16 weeks pregnant.
Would like to know from you how are you doing after booster.
I'm anxious if I should have one.
Regards,
Poonam
