Getting our oven cleaned before baby comes

Hi :)
Our oven is in desperate, desperate need of cleaning. Any time I cook, it fumes a lot and I'd quite like to get it cleaned so that this doesn't happen when baby arrives. I also don't think it's healthy for me even at this stage.
I would not clean the oven, I'm aware of toxic chemicals. Would it be safe to get professional oven cleaners to come and clean it for us? What I mean is - how long would the oven be considered 'unsafe' when baking something in there? Just worried about chemicals in that case. Sorry I know it's probably an odd question!

Bicarbonate of soda and fairy liquid mixed into a paste then smeared onto the inside of the oven and left over night.
In the morning wipe out the paste then spray white vinegar around it then wipe out with a damp cloth. Totally safe then.

For oven racks I get mine clean by putting them in the dishwasher when I’m running a dishwasher cleaner through it. If you take the racks out as soon as the DW stops, when they are still warm, it’s easy to gently scrub them back to sparkling silver.

I got mine done a couple of weeks ago and I’m now 37 weeks

The professional oven cleaner we had removed the oven and took it out to their lorry to clean then brought it back in

The professional oven cleaners I have used have all used non-caustic citrus based products, and the oven has been good to go straight away.

Most professional oven cleaners do, as a PP has said, use very safe products - the massive advantages are that most of the work will take place outside in their van, and the result will be amazing (that’s based on my own experience,
as my (shocking bad!) oven really did look like new). I’ve used Cookerburra in the past - they strip virtually everything removable from the oven etc. and it’s taken outside to deal with. Whilst they aren’t cheap, the end result really is worth the money - all the nooks and crannies are dealt with. They may also be able to replace any filters/seals/bulbs that need doing (but check with whoever you go with first). They bring the oven up to a high temperature before they leave, so you’re good to go.

And no, I don’t work for them!

And once it’s clean do (as a PP has said) use the power of your dishwasher to give the racks/side supports/trays a spruce up. I do mine once every two months on a dedicated cycle (the hottest one) and remaining ‘bits’ come off easily with a microfibre cloth and washing up brush.

Astonish oven and cookware cleaner is brilliant for the glass and keeping on top of any spills - it won’t (in my opinion) tackle heavy work, but it’s very handy to have. Costs about £1 for a little tray that lasts ages. Back of packet says safe to use without gloves … which it is, but as a cleaner mine are pretty hardy!
