First baby baby currently 25 weeks
Just wondering what happens at the hospital after the birth like I know I'll have to take care of the baby change feed etc but when all visitors are sent home just say I need to use the bathroom what do I do with the baby also during the night with the night feeds I'm assuming in a ward everyone looks after their own so there's babies crying all night

With covid would I even be allowed visitors

In my last hospital they had alarms on the crib so you could remove the key when you went to the bathroom and alarm would sound if it was moved. To shower which takes longer I waited till my partner was there to watch the baby.

With my first I was clueless about all of it and the nurses will help so you push the button and they come and help.

Second baby was a 1am c-section and partner couldn't stay once I was settled on the ward at 3am. At this point I was exhausted and couldn't feel much waist down. The first person to dress and do nappy changes was a nurse. Once I had finished nursing - she put him in the cot and got him to sleep so I could get to sleep. Don't worry so much about the c-section scenario - post op you are all on an 'acute' ward with more help.

My question with my first was when to shower. For what ever reason he were stuck on the labour ward for hours post birth so made use of the bathroom there. Once you are on general ward it's shared facilities. With my second post c-section I didn't get a shower till I came home as one shower room and 2 baths (impossible post c-section) for the whole of maternity!

My little DD is two weeks old now, I had a c section.

Once baby is born and c section complete I was wheeled to recovery and monitored for an hour, where my DH was able to stay with me and helped with the baby as I was still numb from the spinal and in shock so didn't feel ready to hold her myself (had uncontrollable shaking) once that settled the midwife (had been with me from admission that morning, all the way through the c section) helped me to gently do skin to skin and have my first cuddle. My DH was allowed to stay until visiting hours were over - which was 3 hours after c section due to time of day

Once he left the midwives took over and supported me for the first night, and as I became more mobile and less sick supported me to learn yo feed, wind and do nappies myself. I just had to ring the bell when baby cried so they could pick her up for me and then put her back down when I was done.

Alongside this they did did observations on both me and baby during the night, helped me get into my feet when I was ready and walk a few steps. Brought me food and drink when I needed it. They were absolutely amazing. Being a first time mum I was nervous about picking her up etc and they helped a lot with that.

Mid morning the next day I was able to do a lot more myself so they stepped back and just checked in when doing obs or bring pain relief if I needed anything. Baby stayed in her cot by my bed when I went to the toilet, but that's as far as I went they continued to bring me food and drink.
