Breaking up 300mg aspirin to a 150mg dose?

I've been told I need to take 150mg aspirin due to having an autoimmune condition during pregnancy, however I can't seem to find 75mg tablets of aspirin anywhere near where I live and they're always sold out in boots and superdrug.

I've been splitting the 300mg tablets of aspirin and taking a half of that every day instead.. is this okay to do?

You'd need to get it from a pharmacist as they won't be on the shelf. Try a different chemist

dementedpixie · 09/12/2021 23:17

Or buy them online

When I was pregnant with my daughter I cut 300mg dispersible tablets into 4. I'm TTC again and found 75mg tablets at Asda. Do you have an Asda near you?

Hi I found the 75mg ones in Tesco's, yellow box
Runkle · 09/12/2021 23:47

Home Bargains and B&M sell the 75mg dosage ones.

My local pharmacy only sells dispersible 75mg tablets 🤮 so I got 300mg from the supermarket and I cut them in half!

IDontDrinkTea · 10/12/2021 08:52

I buy the 75mg ones in tesco, but have also spotted them in Lidl, home bargains and b&m. They’re in a bright yellow box

Sussexmidwife · 10/12/2021 08:56

@Lilybow that is absolutely fine

JuneySunshine · 10/12/2021 09:52

Sure it will be fine, but I've had pregnancy aspririn on prescription and you do get the 75mg ones which is a bit easier.

Katela18 · 10/12/2021 09:55

Hi OP,

If it's for pregnancy you should get them on prescription at 75mg, so you can use your maternity exemption?

I am taking them due to previous pre eclampsia and get 75 mg on a repeat prescription
