Hi, I am 7 weeks pregnant and down with morning sickness and nausea, totally clueless as its my first time. Was wondering anyone else on the forum sharing similar situation. Advice from the experienced is most welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Congratulations @OeindrilaB !

I’m a week behind on my first and also feeling incredibly nauseous which seems to be an all day thing but only increases when I’m hungry.

I’ve found snacking on fruit and Ritz biscuits seems to help. My friend recommended eating little and often as that helped her during the first 12 weeks.

Yay congratulations both !

Eat small little meals throughout the day

Dry food helps

Ginger biscuits

Camille tea

And

Water water water

For me during my first pregnancy I couldn't eat at all for weeks. The only exception of citrus fruit!
This time I am much hungrier but if I eat a full meal I feel terrible with nausea afterwards. So the advice of small meals often is spot on.
The nausea will eventually pass and then you'll get another fun symptom!

@Firsttimetrier Congratulations to you tooGrin. I am also trying to understand how to go about the delivery process here as I am relatively new to the country. I have called the NHS they suggested me to call the midwives. Am just a little confused here, so for anything I need starting from the scans, any medication, vitamins etc, the midwives would handle everything? When can I see a doctor if I go via NHS? What happens if I go to a private hospital? What did you guys do ? Please suggest, I am kinda stressed as my questions are not being answered. I really appreciate your suggestion and help. @Strangevipers @SnowdropFox

Don't panic OP

call the maternity unit of the hospital you would be given birth in and tell the midwives you are pregnant or call your GP and ask for the midwives number

When you call the midwives they will ask how far along you think you are (your last cycle) and will book you in from any time between 8-12 weeks along.

Then you will see the midwife who will weigh you and height and things likes that and then the midwives will book you in for your appointments as you go along

You don't usually see a doctor u less you have complications

Go on the NHS WEBSITE and it will state what you can and can't eat

You need to take folic acid and vitamin d so tablets such as pregnacare are good. But just go to a pharmacy and they will tell you

Strangevipers · 11/12/2021 18:46

No idea about going private but I'm sure if you rang a private clinic they will tell you on the phone

I'm on my 9th week and I have super nose! Any little smell sends me throwing up! I can even smell AIR outside and I have to run to the toilet but oh no, then I smell the shower drain.. and then the deodorant bottle next to the toilet.. and my god, cannot deal with the smells in the house or my partners breath LOL! The moment I wake up to the moment I fall asleep I'm nauseous. I keep a tub of Pringles (they last longer with a lid) next to bed and I try to eat 2 Pringles when I wake up and then another 2 around lunch time to try keep the sickness at bay. Lost my appetite to eat anything at all around 6 weeks. Plain foods like toast, plain or cheesy pasta, chips, mash potato tend to work with me but I really have to force it down. Water or any form of liquid seems to be giving me belly ache too. Think I'm generally sick about 6 times a day? Not fun! Couldn't keep liquids down me for a while and ended up in hospital with an irritated bladder (it felt very much like a UTI) doctors stuck a big anti nausea injection in me bum and gave me a pack of prochlorperazine tablets which instead knock me immediately asleep which is fantastic for night time but rubbish during the day. I'll need to ask the doc to try something else. I've found showers and steam make me sick and light headed so try to sit down in the shower if you can with an open window. Hope you feel better soon and sickness calms down. You're not on your own hugs

I'm 13 weeks now and coming out of it but sparkling water got me through the first trimester, don't even like it normally! Worth a try!
