It's pretty early I have like 2 months and a week left until I'm due to give birth but like writing lists as keeps my anxiety under control

What were your must haves for your birth bag/ baby bag for the hospital?

I've looked on google but love to hear what others put in their bags and found useful

Can be stuff you needed or for the baby

Those super concentrated squashes. I got incredibly thirsty with the heat and breast feeding.

Tena knickers for just after birth. Much more comfy than big pads

Following!

Put all babies outfits/things in sandwich bags and label. It's easier for someone else to find then.
Peppermint capsules too in case you have a c section.
Flip flops for the shower
The longest phone charger cable you can find

PineappleWilson · 09/12/2021 11:29

Agree about tena knickers. Paracetamol, as you'd wait ages for decent painkillers. Flip flops too, to wear in the shower.

Jelly babies for energy.
For some reason I packed a beautiful floral kimono and a fuchsia lipstick – madness but quite lol.
Sports water bottle.
Lansinoh cream if you’re planning on breastfeeding.
Pack baby outfits in sandwich bags labelled by size, so DP/DH can quickly identify which ones to use when the baby comes out inevitably different sized from expectations, instead of manically unravelling all your carefully Marie Kondo rolled outfits while yelling “is this a babygro? Where’s the hat?”
Battery pack for phone

Snacks! hospital food is grim and I really didn’t want it, snacks for your birth partner too.

And definitely flip flops or similar for the shower afterwards.

Thank you for starting this thread. I came on here to ask the same question.

Bluetooth headphones to drown out the noise of everyone else on the ward. A really nice face moisturiser and body wash.

@Wantabub peppermint capsules? I'm having a c-section and am curious what they're fit? Bowels?
hotmeatymilk · 09/12/2021 13:37

I think you’re meant to get weird trapped wind after a C-section and peppermint sorts you out. It never affected me after my section, btw! Just farted it all out Blush

Wantabub · 09/12/2021 13:46

Yes! You could get really painful trapped wind. Some don't though.
I had them just in case.

MegSpace · 09/12/2021 13:51

My best bits: straws, Spritz for Bits by expert midwife and some large cotton wool pads for helping with the clean up after loo visits/changing pads - I had stitches and this helped me feel clean but think the instructions may say it can be used on csection wound too, dark coloured pj's.

Lucozade sport, lillets maternity pads, M&S knickers about 2/3 sizes too big, extra long phone chargers, water bottle with a long bendy straw

QueenLagertha · 09/12/2021 15:15

Iucozade sport, hand cream/ lip balm, long charger, water bottle, big black pants from primark. Though I see others suggestions for Tena pants and might give those a go for this baby
