I'm 41 and 5 weeks pregnant, just wondering if there are any more older mums on here?

Hi, I'm 42 in March and expecting my first child in late January xx

WeGoAgain123 · 09/12/2021 00:09

Hello, I turned 40 in October and am 22 weeks pregnant.

I have two daughters already but they are 11 and 12.

Pregnancy in my 40's is way tougher than it was in my late 20's.

Hope you're doing ok x

Although...it may be because I'm having a little baby boy this time that's it's so different.

I was pregnant at 47 with twins. I'm now 49 with 1.75 year olds.

Pregnancy was a breeze - flew through it with no issues or symptoms.
Birth was also fine (scheduled c-section with very quick recovery.)

It's very tiring looking after twin toddlers (I have a childminder and work full time), but I think I'd be tired no matter my age.

I was 41 when I had my first and 43 when I had my second. Congratulations x

Thanks everyone ☺ I'm just worried about doing it all again as I already have a 12 and 10 year old. I'm worried my uterus must be thinking 'wtf, not again'!! Did anyone have extra midwives appointments due to age? Was a C section recommended due to age? I have my booking in appointment 28th December

@HMS123 no extra appts due to age just all the usual ones for being a FTM and needing extra growth scans due to age related fibroids being found at my 12 week scan.

I've been advised they want to induce me at 39.5 weeks if I haven't gone into labour by then, due to being over 40 and slight increased risk of placental insufficiency after 40 weeks. But other than that midwives and consultants don't seem to have batted n eyelid at my age and I get the impression being pregnant at 41isn't a rare occurrence to them. Smile

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 09/12/2021 11:35

PS No, C section isn't automatic due to age in my experience x

HMS123 · 09/12/2021 17:38

That is reassuring, thank you.

I'm 41 and this will be my first.

I'm 42 and 31 weeks pregnant. They are encouraging me to have a vbac (first child was c section 3.5 years ago). So I guess they don't push for a c section just due to age unless there's a specific reason. These things do seem to vary depending on which health trust upu fall under though.

KellyABC · 09/12/2021 19:02

'you fall under'

Honey2 · 09/12/2021 19:38

Hi
I’m 41 and 14 weeks pregnant… as others have said they have booked extra scans at 28 and 36 weeks due to age and I am also under consultant care and have been advised to birth at the central deliver suite rather than birthing unit. But as @Littlemiss41andfabulous has said the midwives said pregnancy in 40’s is not uncommon at all these days :)

newyearsresolurion · 09/12/2021 22:30

Am 42 baby due anytime x
