When to booster jab?

I'm about to enter 18 weeks. When is best during pregnancy to take the COVID booster?

I've had two Astra jabs and know the booster is either Phizer or Modena. How do I know which one is best to take with what I had before?

I'm trying to reach a doctor but they only have phone appointments and never give me proper answers

Neither is better.
It’s better that you get protected for yours and your baby’s sake.

Well I know that. I'm going to get it. But wondering about timing and if it matters which one if I've had Astra before. I don't know what kind of effects could happen if there's a mix so being cautious I'm trying to get some info.

I'd get it when it's due which at the moment is 3 months after your 2nd dose

Both my jabs were astra zeneca and my booster was phizer. I had the booster when i was 27 weeks and no ill effects. Currently 31 weeks and baby doing well Thanks

The only timing is ASAP, and no, it makes no difference which you have.

@dementedpixie how do you get a jab after 3 months? The national booking system only allows after 6 months...

dementedpixie · 07/12/2021 07:34

You're unlikely to get a choice of which booster you will get so it will depend what they have on the day you go

Maybe the systems are not updated yet but last week the timing changed to 3 months from 6

SexTrainGlue · 07/12/2021 07:37

It really doesn't matter which one.

And on timings, the sooner the better.

I don't think the 3 month thing has come in to effect yet, though.

Although I'm in Scotland and our booking system is different.

The booking system is currently only allowing over 40s to book their booster 3m after their second dose.
It should be opened up to over 30s in the next couple of weeks.
Ideally you want your booster a few weeks before you enter your 3rd trimester so that your immunity is boosted in time for the most risky period of your pregnancy.
