The best pregnancy pillow?!

Hi all,

Which pregnancy pillow have you got or would swear by? I would like to be able to sleep with it when bump is starting to come in and also likely be able to use it when baby is here to help me breastfeed also. I've seen a couple on Amazon but not sure if they'd be any good?

If anyone could recommend any I'd really appreciate it x

MNHQ update:
This thread is a few years old now, but if you've come across it while on the hunt for maternity pillow recommendations, we've recently updated our guide to the best pregnancy pillow here. It includes a wide range of options, including several which are also suitable to use as breastfeeding support cushions. Hope it's helpful! Flowers

I didn't bother spending the money. I have used all sorts of pillows I already have, under my knee, behind my back, under my bump, one to hug. Etc. Planning on doing the same when the baby arrives - we've lots of scatter cushions so I'll just experiment and see what suits.

bbhugme.

Used various different pillows until I gave in and bought a bbhugme in the sale. Thing is so comfortable. I see why people rave about it.

Lorw · 06/12/2021 16:47

Honestly don’t waste your money, just use normal pillows, I went and bought one and it just takes up space and is a pain as it’s never in the right position, so I just have loads of regular pillows that I position perfectly between my knees, cuddle etc and I don’t end up getting numb arms 😁

pumpkinposey · 06/12/2021 16:54

Another vote for BBHugme. Expensive but they resell well.

magicalmama · 06/12/2021 17:03

@WhatMattersMost @alpinia @pumpkinposey

Can I ask what is it about the bbhugme that makes it so good?
Any drawbacks? (Apart from price)

GuckGuckDoose · 06/12/2021 17:04

Another vote for bbhugme. I still use mine every night and take it on holiday with me 😬

(Several years later…)

Another vote for the bbhugme - expensive but worth it for me. It manages to be soft and supportive at the same time. I don’t use a normal pillow under my head any more - just spoon the pillow with my head at the top of it. I’ve always had lower back problems even before pregnancy and it really helps. Keeps every thing in line and supported I think.

Lowkeyloopy · 06/12/2021 17:07

Oh, only drawback - it’s a bit of a faff to change the cover - like trying to get a sausage into its skin.. but shouldn’t be a dealbreaker!

Blackmagicqueen · 06/12/2021 17:07

Tried loads of fancy pregnancy pillows which were no gooe and nothing compared to this:

You can buy beautiful high quality cotton pillowcases to match your bedding too. I bought 2 for a spare when one was in the wash. This was by far the most comfortable pillow when i was pregnancy and baby used to lay on it afterwards for breastfeeding. Highlly recommend!

Blackmagicqueen · 06/12/2021 17:08

good*

Blackmagicqueen · 06/12/2021 17:09

It was also lovely and cool/breathable too as some of the others were too hot for me!

alpinia · 06/12/2021 17:10

@magicalmama the material of the cover is very soft and adjustable. It doesn't get overly hot. You can easily adjust how firm the pillow is too. I like that you can bend and squidge it to support whatever bit of your body you need. It also doesn't take up hardly any space in the bed compared to the other pillows. I've had terrible pgp and it's really helping. The only thing I don't like is the hard rubber pebble closure things. I've changed the one near my head for for hair bobble. I like it so much I'm planning to keep it long term.

squishyegg · 06/12/2021 17:13

Hands down bbhugme!! Expensive but worth
It. I bought two others before buying one, and wish I just bought one first!

For me it was the adjustability. You can adjust the 'firmness' of it during your pregnancy.

It's that the beads inside are small, but dense enough to shape the pillow around without sagging or losing support. You can also increase and decrease the length to make it more or less resistant.

WhatMattersMost · 06/12/2021 17:39

And, yes, it's cool and breathable.

Lizlou85 · 06/12/2021 17:39

I had a dreamgenii I and couldn't get on with it. Ended up taking a normal pillow from the guest bed and using.

TheBestSpoon · 06/12/2021 17:53

I loved this one so much with DS1, I bought another for my current pregnancy! It was getting a bit squished by the end and went a bit mouldy in the loft being stored, hence needing a new one this time around, but reasonably priced so I didn't mind. Having the u shape meant I can hug it and have it between my legs, but rolling over is as simple as letting go and grabbing the other side - no rearrangement needed. I didn't use it for breastfeeding though - had a much firmer thing that clipped around my waist.

Hugely recommend the BBhugme also! Lots of pretty designs, you can wash the covers and it never ever goes flat! I did PayPal pay in 3 for it due to price when I hit the second trimester and best thing I ever did - I'm currently hugging it as I type Grin I don't usually spend so much but my pillows in my last pregnancy were rubbish and suffered so badly with PGP. This time around it's only started at 36 weeks due to baby being head down so I'd deffo say it's helped there too!

Thank you! I'll give the BBhugme a try. I've seen a grey one I like Smile It's £145 but I'll probably pay in instalments also! Thank you x
