Hi. I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow and sleeping has stopped. I'm exhausted but when I lie down I feel like my brain is wired and I'm wide awake. I read somewhere that at about this time, for some women, their body releases a hormone that promotes wakefulness to help with labour and dealing with a newborn. Last night we went to bed at 9pm and I lay awake until 3am when I gave up and went for a walk around the house. Went back to bed about 4am and lightly dozed for about 2 hours and then have been awake for the rest of the day. Even had a busy day today so tried to go for a nap but even now I'm lying here bored and wide awake.

Anyone have any advice/ anything that helped them overcome this horrible wakefulness? I'm exhausted.

Me 🙋🏼‍♀️

36+2 and I also lay awake most of the night even though I'm beyond exhausted 😭 no remedy here to help unfortunately!

You're not alone (36 weeks tomorrow)

Unfortunately found nothing to help, doesn't help my DD is waking all hours too adding to the exhaustion! I usually have some warm milk or decaf tea, I spray my pillow with lavender spray and try to turn my phone off an hour before bed but unfortunately even if I feel tired as soon as my head hits the pillow I just can't switch it!

@growingmybaby and @zeromango ah well, it was worth a shot. At least were on the final leg now!!!

I wish you both very restful futures... if not now, some time soon!

Aw bless you OP you too! I think it's just our bodies prepping us for those long nights Grin Better start putting some things on my Netflix watch list!

This was exactly me a few weeks ago. My consultant recommended Piriton antihistamine as it can make some people drowsy (obviously check this with your healthcare provider first to be on the safe side). It did help me a little. Also some drops of lavender on my pillow.

If you're finding you're awake in bed after 20 mins or so, get out of bed and try having a little walk around, empty your bladder, do some stretches etc and then try again. I found staying in bed for hours on end attempting to sleep didn't help.

You have my full sympathy. I ended up literally in tears on the phone to the GP receptionist and pharmacists after begging for something to help me sleep (I also had covid) and being told no, pregnant women can't have anything.

It'll pass soon!
