Colic help

Firstly I wasn't sure the correct place to post this.

I have a 13 day old baby, bottle fed, using cow and gate milk, currently trying using Nuk bottles (I've also tried mam and tomee tippee) suffering from colic.

Does anyone have any recommendations for colic? I've been giving infacol (midwife today recommended going to the GP - the infacol is helping...but not hugely). Long story short, my doctors sent us to the walk in centre - the doctor there recommended gripe water (I told him we can't use it until a month - his response "that's news to me" and he then proceeds to Google it!!!!). I had googled, hence we ended up phoning my doctors. Has anyone managed anything to help the symptoms?

IME most babies are just cranky in the evenings for a few weeks. Both mine were. I tried all the (expensive) so called remedies with my first for colic and reflux and anything really because it’s so hard seeing them unhappy. But when you think about what a shock it must be coming from a warm cosy environment and suddenly being thrust into the world and becoming conscious of what’s around you, it’s not really surprising they’re cross. I think, for the most part, you just need to ride it out.

My baby honestly just screamed for the first 8 weeks, then settled down. We tried everything (infacol, gripe water, Colief, Dentinox etc etc) but not much really helped. It just massively improved at 8-12 weeks as they become more alert and were able to be distracted by other things and their sleep also improved around this time. We assumed it was colic/wind but actually think they were really overtired as we hadn't settled into a proper schedule with their sleep and naps and completely underestimated quite how often and how much they should be sleeping when newborn (every 45 mins!)
Could focusing on sleep be worth a shot? Also baby Bjorn bouncer helped for keeping upright after feeds, and a baby carrier helped with wind and settling. Otherwise please just try and keep your sanity and know that it will get better soon(ish) x

Not sure if this is for colic or reflux (was never quite sure what my baby had, she just cried a lot!) but making sure they’re properly winded after feeds (there’s a few different positions and techniques if you check YouTube...one where you kind of lay them flat in their tummy on your hand / arm).

Also holding baby upright against your chest for about 20-30 mins ..this is tedious especially after long night feeds but I found this really helped. If I put her straight down after winding she would wake up screaming within ten mins..

The Boots brand of Colief worked for my daughter (never tried Colief as it was out if stock but I expect that would have worked too). Her colic started within days and it was so hard for her.

Just wondering are you using ready made, making with the kettle or using the perfect prep?

I have no experience with colic but I'm curious if you could be using the prep machine which is very frothy?

Lactase drops, OP. You can buy them in the supermarket and also get them on prescription. Absolute winner for my DD.
