Has anyone had the covid booster while pregnant?

Hi everyone
I’m 30 weeks and had both jabs before i fell pregnant. Its been 6 months since my 2nd jab so i expect i’ll be offered the booster soon. I just wondered whether other mums were having it during pregnancy? I know its a personal choice, i’d obviously rather have it especially with the new variant and i’m entering the hospital regularly atm for appointments, but I wouldn’t want to harm the baby as I don’t know how they know its safe during pregnancy? Thank you x

Hundreds of thousands of women have now had this vaccine in pregnancy. You are much less safe without it than with it.
Please listen to the experts and get a booster when you are offered one, remember the third trimester is the most risky time covid risk wise and the jab doesn't work immediately the day you have it, it takes a couple of weeks for the immunity to start climbing back up.

I have had my first two vaccines while pregnant and they have been happy with baby at every scan/appointment. I am not eligible for my booster yet but would have it when pregnant if I was eligible

I had my booster when I was 22 weeks. I felt more tired than I had with my first 2 but was fine the next day.

36 weeks and had it last week. Felt completely fine

Pfizer after having Az (first shot pre-pregnancy - felt horrific. 2nd shot at 12 weeks, didn’t notice I’d had it)

Im under the care of Fetal medicine consultants due to a complication in a previous pregnancy, so being watched very carefully by absolute experts in what’s best for the baby, and they recommended I get the booster

There is absolutely no evidence it can harm the baby, but more and more evidence of how much covid can harm the baby

I had my booster last week at 25 weeks, felt absolutely fine and the baby is kicking away as usual. I've had Pfizer for all three jabs, I'm asthmatic so the risk of reduced oxygen to the baby if I caught covid is even higher.

Yep, I'm having my booster tomorrow at 22 weeks pregnant. I'm really happy to be able to have it because I was very concerned about being in 3rd trimester over winter with waning protection.

Scirocco · 29/11/2021 08:51

I've had it too. Definitely safer to get the booster than to risk Covid. Stay safe!

Great thanks ladies!!
I just wasn’t sure what to do for the best as I wasn’t aware of any new research etc but I’ll definitely have it once offered, especially with cases being on the up. Such a horrible virus 😔

had both my vaccines before pregnancy. I had my booster a month ago at 26 weeks. no issues. slightly achy arm after that's it. done. It's the same vaccine really as the previous two

BobbleWobble1 · 29/11/2021 10:21

Very similar to you in that I had both vaccines pre pregnancy and had my booster a few weeks ago at around 30 weeks. All Pfizer jabs. No issues other than a dead arm. As others have said, there's far more evidence of harm to you/baby if you catch covid in Tri 3 than from having the jab so that's why I had it. DH is now eligible for his booster so I've made sure he's booked his too.

Bunny2607 · 29/11/2021 13:13

Thanks everyone!
I went on the nhs website and I’ve actually been able to book my booster now so i’m having it tomorrow. DH had his on Saturday so hopefully we are going to have a decent level of immunity now! So worrying especially with the new variant, i have to say its that which has prompted me to think about it. Before that i was relaxed but still careful x

Good luck. It just sucks that we can still get Covid even with both jabs and the booster. So the worry doesn't actually go away 😔

anotheronettc · 17/12/2021 08:39

I had my booster at 16 weeks and 4 days. I reacted slightly differently this time. I never reacted at all to the vaccines. I got this from the booster. Getting checked out by the Dr today and I'm almost certain it will be fine but will keep you posted. I just assume that our bodies are more sensitive to foreign bodies and overreact a little. But I'd much rather have this than covid. If you get covid in the later stages of pregnancy and get really sick, they will have to lay you on your front to help you with breathing which means they deliver you baby (and this could be preterm) so it's a clear choice for me! Boost!
