First pregnancy after years of IvF. I was 6 weeks yesterday. I am due to go for a scan in 2 weeks but I’m worried about how I haven’t started getting sick yet and what that means.

When did you start getting sick?

Never thought I’d be upset about not vomiting 🙈

Thanks guys. Great to hear so many stories of healthy pregnancies without sickness. I had a good first HCG and good second HCG which more than tripled so hopefully all will be fine.

I never had any morning sickness - not even with twins via IVF

Hoptoit1 · 26/11/2021 16:23

5 weeks with Dt and 6 weeks with Dc1.
But both my siblings never had nausea or vomiting.

OpposableThumbs2 · 26/11/2021 17:00

Congratulations! Hope you have a smooth and uneventful pregnancy. I have had two healthy full term pregnancies with no sickness at all.

QueenLagertha · 26/11/2021 17:27

No sickness this pregnancy for me either! Nearly 19 weeks. Enjoy it

allfurcoatnoknickers · 26/11/2021 18:42

7+4 and I was crippled by nausea and vomiting until DS was evicted at 39+4.

Please don't wish morning sickness upon yourself, it's miserable and not a cute and fun part of pregnancy. It also triggered serious mental health issues for me, as well as physical issues leading to a weekly mandatory appointment with a psychiatrist and many extra growth scans because I wasn't gaining weight and my fundal height was way behind Sad

Cottoneyejoe34 · 26/11/2021 18:45

5 weeks with both. Had hyperemesis with both pregnancies too.

User5252727 · 26/11/2021 18:45

I never really did - lots of women don't, you might be one of the lucky ones who escapes it Smile

VeronicaFranklin · 28/11/2021 21:07

Sore boobs from 3/4 weeks no other symptoms apart from missed period.

Week 5/6/7 nothing

Week 8 mild nausea
Week 9 terrible all day long nausea (no sickness)

Week 10/11 all symptoms vanished (had early private scan baby had strong heartbeat etc so not concerned)

Everyone is different x

secretllama · 28/11/2021 21:45

1st pregnancy 5.5 weeks till week 13. I'm now pregnant again and seems to be the exact same as ik 13 weeks tomorrow and I actually felt alive today!
However like others have said, some (lucky) people get nothing, my sister had nothing for 2 pregnancies!

dg93 · 28/11/2021 21:48

I never got morning sickness! 28 weeks on Tuesday and still nothing 😁

I had very mild nausea but that was all - no other symptoms until I was around 19 weeks, and that was joint pain!

Congratulations @Nootherwilldo

I am pregnant via IVF, now in the third trimester. I actually felt rough by the time I got to test day and was off work from before 6 weeks, I could hardly get in the car for my viability scan.
I could hardly eat so I worried the baby wouldn't get enough nutrients. Honestly there is always something to worry about.
I know quite a few people who have not had any sickness at all, whether IVF or not.

Hope your scan and the rest of your pregnancy go well.

Velvetscrunchy · 28/11/2021 23:59

IVF pregnancy here - took prednisone during my first trimester for immune issues but it’s known to help with sickness so I take it that’s why I possibly had no sickness.
Morning sickness has hit from 30 weeks onwards.

I hate it.

Mossstitch · 29/11/2021 00:20

At least a week before period due, it's what told me I'm pregnant, that and going off coffee but the worst was between 7-9 weeks, then used to start fading till gone at about 16 weeks.

Nootherwilldo · 29/11/2021 20:03

That’s interesting @Velvetscrunchy I’m also on predisdelone and I hadn’t heard that about it helping with sickness.

I had zero symptoms at all until 17 weeks and all was well

Namechangedforspooky · 29/11/2021 20:07

Never with either pregnancy. Doesn’t necessarily mean bad news

squee123 · 29/11/2021 20:08

Oh and that's right re predisdelone, it suppresses nausea. It is actually used to treat HG in some cases

Yep this.

It also made me really hungry and the week I came off it the appetite also started to ease up.

dutchessmom · 30/11/2021 11:51

My mother and my SIL never experienced sickness in their pregnancies, on the other hand, I swear I felt sick from 3rd week.

Congratulations on your IVF pregnancy 🤗

Derbee · 30/11/2021 14:32

Congratulations on your pregnancy. As many have said, sickness isn’t absolutely necessary! I was worried about lack of symptoms at 6 weeks. By 7 weeks I was vomiting, 9 weeks hospitalised for IV fluids, and on medication until 21 weeks for HG treatment.

So I’m biased, but I say hope for the other symptoms, and be happy to avoid the vomiting! Good luck with your pregnancy
