I just lifted a cabinet that my TV stands on - loaded with DVD's and cable television and TV - the lot. I didn't move it far but I felt something 'go' on my left side. I am now worried! So stupid as we got the neighbour in to help us move it, and discovered after he left that it was too far from the power point. Am I being paranoid? I am 17 weeks with no. 3 and I read that heavy lifting can cause premature labour

Sit with your feet up for a wee while, try not to worry I'm sure you will be fine x

I am by no means a profeesional but I have had 3 children adn have done the same as you(lifting somthing and feeling something 'go') with 2 of those pregnancies (second and third).

What I felt it must have been, after I panicked and worried about it, was a ligament or muscle being pulled funny.

When pregnant all your muscles and ligaments are very loose to allow your uterus and tummy to stretch.
I'm sure that is all it was

Have a rest and remember not to do it again

Hope you start to relax about it soon

Thanks guys. My whole tummy area now feels strained. I hope it amounts to nothing and I certainly won't be doing it again.

Glad your ok. It's ok for people to say ohhh don't lift anything heavy but sometimes it's just not possible to never do it.

Heavy lifting has no link to premature labour, says BBC.
Actually, another website said there might be a link, but it was only with repeated heavy lifting, like working a warehouse all day, I guess.
I moved about 12x10kg loads recently (32 weeks). Bump and back are fine but boy did my upper arms ache for a few days afterwards.

I have lifted several heavy things since being pregnant. I wouldn't worry too much. I am due today and so far so good.

Think of people with jobs that involve heavy work. And parents of toddlers, when they have to lift them etc. I wouldn't worry too much seriously.
