Continuity of care when moving home

Hello All,

We're moving home soon and I wondered how does midwife/maternity care continue? I've been given appointments for scans/dr's/midwife etc and I've been told my surgery to just register at a new one and they'll figure it out.

Has anyone got experience of this and how would it work in practice?

Thanks

I told my midwife at my last appointment and she referred me to the local midwife in my new area. All was fine just need to register with new GP

I moved when about 5 months pregnant (from England to Scotland). I got in touch with my new hospital in advance because the date coincided with exactly when I needed my 20 week scan and I didn’t want to miss the window. They booked me in for scan about 2 weeks after my moving date and then I dealt with getting booked in etc when I moved. My original midwife sent me my notes so I could pass to new hospital. It was all fine.

Great. Thanks for the reassurance.
