Measuring ahead at dating scan

I posted a few days ago about measuring 12+6 at my dating scan instead of 12+2 which I thought I was going by my LMP.
The sonographer didn’t say anything about it and my due date wasn’t changed, it just says 12+6 on my notes.
I’m just wondering should I assume I’m 12+6 now? I want to book a gender scan and the only date my partner can get off work is when I will be 16 weeks exactly (going by if I’m 12+6). But if I still go by my LMP then it would be too early to book the gender scan on this day as I won’t be 16 weeks yet.

Sorry if this doesn’t make sense 🤣 I guess what I’m asking is does it mean my baby is just big or will it also developmentally be at 12+6.

At our hospital they go by the date on your 12 week scan as it’s meant to be very accurate.

Nah. My due date got moved forward 5 days based on my scan.. I went 5 days over due based on that.

I gave birth on my original due date, worked out by LMP and ovulation date.

I'd stick to your dates personally. I was excited so told family the dating scan date, and on this date until birth I was constantly hounded by text to see if I had given birth yet or had 'any signs' it really makes the waiting time drag.

4 days difference is nothing. Just roll with it.

I’m not worried about it the due date as I know it usually means nothing. It’s more for booking my gender scan as it will too early to go on the date I date I had planned if I go by my original dates

Your HCPS will book your scans though, and will know when to book them? Your 20 week scan isn't a gender scan, it's an abnormalities scan. Unless you're booking a private one, and they say they can tell the gender from 16 weeks so a few days won't matter.

Yes I’m booking a private gender scan 😊

4 days is nothing as long as you give birth around 40 weeks... But what about when you go overdue? It can make the difference between being induced or not, which carries risks and potential stress.

I speak as someone who's recently been in this situation... I gave birth at 41+5 by NHS dates and 41+1(ish) by my dates, having declined induction. There was a lot of pressure to accept induction, but I was certain that the NHS scan had dated me wrongly because I only had sex once the month that we conceived, plus I'd been tracking my cycle carefully as we were having issues conceiving (i was using LH tests, temperature and cervical mucus tracking). The consultant didn't want to know (apparently the scan dates are 'always accurate without fail') and refused to change the due date, but the midwives agreed with my reasoning!

Having said the above, if you were having sex regularly during your cycle, I'd be more inclined to just roll with the date. And for the gender scan I probably wouldn't worry too much as 4 days won't make a huge difference at 16 weeks(ish!) gestation.
