Hello! I've just got my BFP in the last couple of days 🥳 I'm between 4/5 weeks.

I'm trying to figure out what I should be eating and how much etc. And it is so overwhelming! The Internet is black hole of information!

I'm just wondering if anyone would mind sharing what their meals and snacks looked like in early pregnancy/first trimester.

I have on/off nausea at the moment too, which seems to get worse in the evenings. So any hacks for that too would be great as I'm sure it's only going to get worse!

This is my first pregnancy, aside from an early MCC last year so want to put my best foot forward this time. I've been taking prenatal vitamins for the last month also, and need to switch to an antenatal.

Thank you so much! Rach x

I think you can basically eat what you can stomach. I know I went of dairy for ages so lots of peanut butter on toast or boiled eggs and toast.

The section in the NHS website for pregnancy has a good section on diet but mainly for the what you SHOULDN'T eat- it's not a long list though.

Other than that, apart from folic acid, I think what generally happens is people eat what they fancy, avoiding the no no's, especially if they have nausea or sickness. I wanted all the carbs both times and went off meat and most veg so there were many days when I only ate carbs, dairy and fruit.

I did put on quite a bit of weight both times from a slim starting point but I only ate to appetite and eating little and often was the way I managed both my nausea and later on my indigestion. Most of it came back off naturally although the last half a stone didn't go til I stopped breastfeeding, which is a bit counter intuitive but there you go.

So long story short a normal healthy diet if you can is generally considered to be fine, as long as you bear in mind the NHS advice on what to avoid. Google will come up with all sorts because the guidance is difference in other countries, so try not to take too much notice of it, stick with NHS and what your midwife says when you see her.

I had and still have plenty of aversions. Eat what you can, which for me meant apples, ready salted crisps, tangy, bright and fresh flavours like lemony pasta or greek salad, orange juice. Thanking all my luck that the foods I can eat tend to be healthy!

I also needed to switch from three meals a day and no snacks, which is what I've done my whole life, to grazing through the day. Tiny portions often. That's been tough!

Basically lived on cereal and any beige food I could stomach, best endeavours if you are sick or nauseous and just try and eat something. I’m 36 weeks now and she’s over 7lb so the coco pop diet hasn’t done her any harm!
