First trimester tiredness

Hi ladies, just wanted to share and ask if anyone has felt or is feeling really tired in their first trimester? I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and the last few days I feel really lethargic with low energy. Luckily I'm working part time from home but even that feels like alot of effort. I just feel like sitting/lying down all day. Is this normal?

Completely normal. It does start to get better in trimester 2

Normal for me and one of the things I find hardest to cope with. In my first pregnancy I remember having to have a five minute sit down in the middle of hoovering a room. I actually never felt so tired as during the first trimester again, even with a new born. I am pregnant again and now have a 19m old and am finding it really hard to look after him and work.

I think people don’t really understand how strong the tiredness can be unless they’ve had it themselves. Usually if I’m tired from lack of sleep I can still function but I find pregnancy tiredness different.

It improved massively for me at about 12 weeks last time and I think that’s quite normal. Hopefully you’ll be the same.

It is so relieving to see more people on the same boat. I am finding way harder to deal with the fatigue than the nausea. And as PP said, it is a totally different type of tiredness.

I was the same with both pregnancies. Absolute fatigue that radiates from my bones. Horrible.

I still fall asleep most evenings on the sofa and I'm 16 weeks. It's like this irresistible force that takes over me. Drives me mad!

Chanel05 · 16/11/2021 14:23

So normal! Give into it! Early nights, slow cooked dinners to minimise messing about in the evening.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 16/11/2021 14:29

Really normal. I kept going for a little lie down when my husband got home from work at 6pm and then waking up the next morning 😂 if you can take breaks to lie down then absolutely go for it. I’m on my third pregnancy so have 2 little ones to look after so no such luck for me! It will pass soon. I’m 16 weeks now and have much more energy. From about 12 weeks the fatigue started to lift.

Completely normal but god it sucks so hard. I have fibromyalgia which hasn't helped, and unfortunately the fatigue hasn't abated and I'm in my second trimester.

I'm pretty sure I completed Netflix in my first trimester as all I could do was lie on the sofa or in bed watching crap on the tv 😂

Just take it as easy as you can and get hubby / family to do as much for you as possible!

JammyRedRooo · 16/11/2021 15:08

Yes it was awful!! Got better around week 14 for me. Fortunately we were in the depths of lockdown so I had nothing to do but sleep and watch TV...

Lostintranslatio · 16/11/2021 15:24

Week 14!??? I'm in 8weeks and I was hoping it would get better in a couple weeks 😢😢😢😢 Struggling to get through the working day, my productivity is sooooo loooww.

Sprat12 · 16/11/2021 15:32

I’m week 17 and still struggling… I really hope it picks up for you guys soon!

Jay185 · 16/11/2021 16:01

Thanks girls glad to hear it's normal but it really is hard. I just woke up from a nap since I wrote this and I'm still lying here lool. No get up and go at all. Really don't like this feeling I hope this is an extreme day and not what every day feels like. Looking forward to the second trimester!
