Anyone pregnant and taken booster vaccine?

Hi I am 13+6 weeks and have been invited to take the booster vaccine which I have booked for the 27th November. I took the flu vaccine a few weeks ago and was fine after it but my only concern was how unwell I was after both the 1st two vaccinations so just wanted to know how others got on after their booster jabs whilst pregnant? I had a scare on Friday as well with a large bleed so just naturally feeling a bit anxious.

Had mine at 26 weeks. Had the original ones just before getting pregnant (had the second and got pregnant about a week later).

All was fine. had a slightly achy arm. had a scan since and baby seems fine

GinnyBee · 15/11/2021 14:11

I would love to be eligible for the booster! Would get it in a heartbeat.

QueenLagertha · 15/11/2021 14:41

I had mine a couple of weeks ago when I was about 15weeks pregnant. I won't lie, I felt like crap for 24hrs. Flu like symptoms. Very sore arm. However I was 100% back to normal the day after that. I had a similar reaction to my second vaccine. I feel so much better for having it.

BobbleWobble1 · 15/11/2021 14:49

Had mine last week. No problems other than a sore arm. I didn't have any problems with my first 2 either though which I had before I was pregnant. I'm nearly 32 weeks.

Newdreams · 15/11/2021 16:15

Thank you all for replying I feel so reassured now. I felt so rubbish for about a week after both initial vaccines but hoping this time will be different.

I got my booster a few weeks ago and it was absolutely fine. My arm felt less sore than after the whooping cough vaccine and I didn't need any time off work or anything.

Hi I just have literally got home from the vaccination. Feel ok so far but am dreading side effects (had terrible ones after first 2 but wasn't pregnant than) hopefully they stay minimal. I will let you know how I get on. Just something to add though even though I wrote on the form I was pregnant they were still proceeding to give me the moderna vaccine. It was only when I mentioned I was pregnant the lady said I would have to have the pfizer vaccine as that ones the safest in pregnancy. So just remember to mention it to the person administering the vaccination.

Had mine last week at 16 weeks and had no effects at all. Not even a sore arm.

Skybooks · 26/11/2021 19:26

I'm 29 weeks and will have mine on Tuesday, had both vaccines before finding out I was pregnant but I had 2nd vaccine the day I ovulated. I was fine after both vaccines just sore arm so hoping for the same again this time.

I had my Pfizer booster at 18 weeks and only had a sore arm- I didn’t have the tiredness I did with the first two vaccines

Wildrobin · 26/11/2021 19:37

I was also encouraged to hear from the doctor there that they are now seeing babies born with some immunity thanks to the vaccines

pregnantnurse314 · 26/11/2021 19:38

I had the booster when I was about 6 weeks pregnant before I found out, and had no side effects at all - didn't really have bad side effects after the first two doses either though, just felt a little bit rubbishy!

Nerdy123 · 26/11/2021 19:47

@Newdreams thanks for replying. Il pray all goes well for you and baby.
I have insisted on getting Pfizer in the past and its a really good point il makesure it is Pfizer. I still had some symptoms myself which is why I ask. Annoyingly i note everything but didnt note my symptoms for Pfizer.
Did you have Pfizer before or Moderna? if you dont mind me asking? Maybe the difference on vaccine may help?

I had Astrazenca for my first two as I was in the early vaccination group before they announced astrazenca not to be given to under 40s.

@Newdreams same here re jabs- early group so got AZ before they changed guidance for under 40s. Getting my booster on Sunday and I’m 5+3 weeks. Think all boosters are Pfizer/ moderna anyway. Was slightly worried but only yesterday, media reporting i read suggested vaccines and boosters are safe in pregnancy so find that reassuring. Good luck all x

JustOneMoreStep · 27/11/2021 13:59

I had the booster at 13 weeks and had no issues. I also had the moderna for the booster (Pfizer for the first 2), but I was jabbed by a doctor rather than nurse/HCA so that they could be confident that I understood and was happy to go ahead during pregnancy. I'd done some reading before hand and it seemed that both moderna and Pfizer work in the same way, so unlikely to be an issue for the pregnancy, but there was some suggestion that having a different vaccine to the original might offer a small amount of additional protection. I discussed it with the Dr before proceeding and he agreed that there was some evidence for this but its not conclusive either way. As it made no difference to the pregnancy either way I was personally happy to proceed with Moderna. I had a sore arm for 72 hours but no other issues.

BusyMumma3 · 27/11/2021 20:05

I had my booster at 14 weeks - it was the easiest of the 3, with no side effects. I had Astra Zeneca for the first two and Pfizer for the booster. I had a scan two weeks later that was unrelated to the booster jab and the baby was wiggling away.

Cuwins · 27/11/2021 20:18

Yes I had mine about a month ago. Sore arm for a few days but that's it.
