Playing Classical Music for Baby in the Womb

Has anyone put headphones on their belly while pregnant to play classical music (on a very low volume) for their baby?

I keep finding conflicting advice online about it. Some articles are saying it's recommended while others say it could harm the baby's ears! Which is it??

I don’t think you need to use headphones as baby can hear sounds from outside of the womb so headphones seem unnecessary x

Why would you do this?

Play classical music if you want but the baby will hear it without headphones.

I don’t think you need headphones at all, let alone specifically for classical music - it’s no different to other music! If you like music then listen to it (whatever genre), happy mum = happy baby.

I agree, just play it in the background, if you enjoy classical music.

Too loud music can damage hearing development and cause stress in utero.

It's also at bit impractical to find time every day to lie about with ear phones attached to your stomach. Grin

You definitely don't need to use headphones lol. The baby will still hesr it if it's playing out loud

I wouldn't bother playing it unless you enjoy it and just a normal speaker so you can continue with normal activities.

Our baby got to listen to Rock and metal in the womb, I played it in hospital and it settled her lol.

Just play music. I should warn you, though, that as I was living in the house of a friend with a fabulous sound system and a wonderful collection of classical and Irish traditional music, I played music literally every evening throughout my pregnancy, my now 9-year-old DS has dreadful taste in music.
