I have my 16 week appointment with my midwife tomorrow and would just like an insight of what they do during the appointment? Mainly if they take blood because I am a needle whimp over here😂 also do they still do the heartbeat? I did read mixed views on if they do it and some don't.

Hi , congratulations on your pregnancy. They will do your blood pressure, test a urine sample and discuss your blood results. Must midwives won’t listen to the heartbeat until 24 weeks. Shouldn’t need anymore blood tests until you are 28 weeks so don’t worry about that 🙂.

Where I am the midwife goes over the results from the 12 week scan, blood results, will check urine and listen into baby 🥰

Oh and BP x

Thank you ladies! Thank god no needles😂😂 I had my flu jab a couple weeks back and I nearly passed out. Had to go into the side room and throw up on the sink. Wasn't the best experience😂

At my 16 week appointment, I have a urine sample, they took my blood pressure, and they listened to the baby’s heartbeat on a Doppler (and let me record it!)

I had it yesterday ladies, all went fine. Just went over my bloods from 12 week scan, all fine and in range. And a wee sample tested, again fine and we did listen to the heartbeat. My midwife was so lovely, I could of listened to her voice forever, so soothing😂 she just talked me through what appointments I'll have and I'll see her again at 26 weeks x

Glad all went well.
With regards to the needle phobia, could you ask to lie down when they take your blood? It'd at least stop you from feeling faint
