Has anyone taken Sertraline during pregnancy?

I’m currently on 100mg of Sertraline and I have just had a positive pregnancy test. I’m worried that this high dose is bad for the baby. Has anyone else been on a high dose during pregnancy and everything was okay? I feel like I should stop it

Phone your GP today and ask, as it’s never a good idea to abruptly stop medication without medical assistance. If you can’t see your GP today you could ask a pharmacist.

Congratulations on your pregnancy by the way Grin

Sertraline is the safest antidepressant to take during pregnancy and breastfeeding. And 100mg per day of it isn't considered a high dose - people can safely take the maximum licensed dose of 200mg per day if needed - so you're well within the licensed dose range. It's safer to keep taking it than to stop suddenly. There may be scope for a trial of a lower dose, though, if you're keen to try this.

It's worth checking in with your GP for advice, and they can help make sure you get appropriate support for you and your baby. Don't make any changes by yourself.

Congratulations!

Congratulations

100mg is a moderate dose, I've known women take 200mg throughout pregnancy.
It is one of the medications that is safe to take during your pregnancy.
Please don't stop, but discuss with your midwife or GP for reassurance

I’m on sertraline 100mg and everyone has said to me that my stable mood should outweigh any likely risk (low). My baby is so far very healthy, kicking away at me as we speak !

Just echoing what others have said OP 100mg is really not a high dose and the benefit to your mood is likely to vastly outweigh any small risk to baby.

I am also on sertraline 100mg and have been since before I was pregnant. I am now 34 weeks and will continue on this dose for an indefinite period I would imagine.

The only thing in my management that is different is that baby has to be monitored for 24 hours at least once born but not on NICU or anything just on the ward next to me.

Please don’t just stop it, there is a reason you take it and your mental health is equally as important in pregnancy as your babies health.

It was discussed with me about reducing my dose to 50mg in third trimester but my anxiety is at an all time low and im feeling really positive right now so didn’t want to rock the boat.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.
