Hi I'm just wondering if this is normal for anyone else? I'm 21 weeks pregnant and have extreme lower back and hip pain, when lying down my lower back feels like it's seperating and it feels like I can't breathe because of it and my hips are extremely sore when walking and go really numb when I'm sleeping and I wake up with agonising pain in my sides and legs, this has been the last 2 weeks or so this has started, I tried speaking to my doctors but they say this is normal

It's normal. Unfortunately pregnancy causes alot of aches and pains. Your body is changing

Go to an osteopath or physio, it's common and can be normal but doesn't mean you should just suffer through it.

I've got similar pains, I went to a physio who recommended some gentle exercises to stretch & strengthen back as well as a back support for when standing/walking around for periods of time. I've scheduled monthly massages/treatments for the rest of my pregnancy to try and alleviate it. It's helped a bit but honestly I think it's just part and parcel of pregnancy, though yours does sound particularly severe, mine felt like that for about a week but improved and I haven't had it that bad since following physio advice.

Within my trust you can self-refer to an NHS physio - might be worth a try.

Sounds like pelvic girdle pain (PGP), I've had this since 19 weeks. There's loads of great info on the Pelvic Partnership Website:
