39+5 - heavy feeling in pelvis

Hi - this sounds silly as I'm typing, but I'm guessing this feeling is just the fact that I have a baby with his head engaged? Been having strong bh for weeks, and had this feeling for a while, but getting more uncomfortable as the days tick on. Kind of hoping someone will say it's a sign of things startin. I'm not really that big, so could be that a lot of people have this feeling for weeks and I'm my LO is having a growing spurt - I have been told he will be slightly on the small side due to a growth sca - although can't say I'm expecting it to be that accurate x

baby probably just dropping a bit lower in readiness. doesn't necessarily mean that things will kick off anywhen soon, but here's hoping eh?

I agree with fingerwoman. everyone aparently "drops" within the last few days before labour, i never noticed but constantly had old woman coming up to me saying "judging by how low you are, you should have it any day"

Also the fact that you've got a babies head between your legs wont help

Babies do drop. It was particularly noticable with DS2 for me. I felt like I was sitting on his head for about 10 days before he was finally born. I couldn't sit down on anything squarely, always had to be leaning to one side to keep the pressure off.

How big you are doesn't seem to bear any relation to the size of the baby. Everybody told me I looked small both times and one baby was 6lb 10oz and the other 9lb - the one that caused all the trouble with sitting down.

One thing is for sure kelbel, sometime in the next 2.5 weeks you are going to have your baby. I just hope that it is sooner rather than later.

Good luck.

thought so - just thought it best to get some opinions. Although I'm still not fed up I would love him to come around due date so can have him home and snuggled for christmas! On the other hand, want him to come when ready - can't wait - so excited! Seeing mw on Friday anyway, so surely she'll let me know if he's fully engaged, thanks for replies x

kelbel, don't expect him to be fully engaged, they don't do that until you are in labour. They can, however, be most of the way there and very comfy taking up all the available space in your pelvis.

IT is very exciting though. What a fantastic Christmas present! I hope it all goes really smoothly.
