Morning sickness

This is my first pregnancy. I started getting owning sickness at 4 weeks pregnant, it has become progressively worse. I am now 6 weeks pregnant, struggling to eat anything but chips and just keep vomiting. Today I have Vomited 4x. Is it normal to feel sick all the time and not be able to hold anything down? I'm worried that my face looks thinner and the baby isn't getting the nutrients it needs to grow healthily

Don't worry too much, it's perfectly normal. For most people it goes around 12 weeks or so, and as long as you're keeping hydrated and managing very small amounts of food your baby will be fine.

My morning sickness started at 6 weeks and continued for 7 months, vomiting 10+ times per day and I lost so much weight you could count my ribs and vertebrae by the time I gave birth. However your body will always ensure your baby gets the nutrients and despite the sickness on both pregnancies both my children were a healthy weight. (It's worth pointing out that while not rare, it is fairly unusual to have sickness for quite so long!)

Try very small amounts of food, I found fresh strawberries and grapes and dry crackers OK.

If it goes on for longer than 12 weeks have a word with your midwife about it. Good luck x
