Painful numb/tingling hands

I’m 34 weeks pregnant and am suffering with my hands, I can’t use them much or they really hurt, they keep going numb and I get pins and needles- it’s worse first thing in the morning /overnight and by the end of the day. I’m sure it’s carpel tunnel (I’ve had it with previous pregnancy but much later- but nowhere near this bad).

I don’t know what to do, is it normal for it to be so bad at this stage and what can I do to help it? Hoping someone has some experience as I’m so miserable, today had been awful, on off numbness all day and even typing this I can’t hold my phone… my feet are also feeling strange too - like numb and tingly. I’ll speak to my midwife this week but hoping someone may have some top tips to help

it is mst likely carpel tunnel syndrome (though beware random people diagnosing on the web)
It is common in pregnancy,
often worse with using hands and in the wee small hours.

non invasive helps are using wrist splints that keep your wrists straight and hands slightly higher than wrist

you could also try elevating your wrists/hands on pillows if you are sleeping on your back

Thank you @foolonthehill I will try propping myself up more tonight and add more pillows for arms, and see how I get on fingers crossed it does help

I've had carpal tunnel in all 4 of my pregnancies and it's been worse each time. By my 4th it was so painful I had to go to the GP and he gave me a steroid injection in my wrist.

Yep had this and still suffer with the after effects 3 years later! (Although only a tiny % of what I did when pregnant).
My midwife gave me a hand / wrist split. It was not attractive but it definitely helped. If you aren’t seeing midwife anytime soon then get yourself a decent quality one online - mine had a metal splint which was removable

The splints do help. Bought mine off Amazon.
