Flu jabs

I'm 8w3d and am booked to have my flu jab tomorrow but I'm really nervous. I'd have preferred to have waited until 12 weeks but then midwife etc encouraging to have is ASAP. It's an IVF pregnancy and really struggling with anxiety at the moment.

Just hoping for some advice/guidance on what others have done and whether it's better to wait until 12 weeks.

Absolutely no reason to delay until 12 weeks to have your flu jab, perfectly safe to go on and get protected as soon as you have the opportunity.
Go for it!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! NHS advice is, and has been for a while (pre-Covid) that the flu jab is safe at any stage of pregnancy. I’m only one person but had mine at about 8 weeks this time, and my second Covid jab (Pfizer) at 4 weeks. Pregnancy is progressing fine now at 16 weeks.

I totally get why you must be feeling anxious about anything potentially going wrong. However, the medical advice re pregnancy is so, so cautious - couldn’t even have a strepsil when I had a cold a few weeks ago! - that if they’re saying to get a vaccine, it’s for a very good reason. Getting flu is known to have higher associated risks for pregnant women than non-pregnant women. In my opinion it’s the safest thing to do, to get the vaccine. Best of luck for the rest of your pregnancy.

I had mine done yesterday, I was 7+1, I felt absolutely fine after it. This is my third pregnancy and I've had the flu jab during the first trimester with my other two pregnancies also and babies were absolutely fine. They're really worried about how the flu season will affect us this year and they obviously want pregnant women to be protected ASAP. You'll be OK OP.

had mine at 7 weeks,

I get the flu jag yearly anyway as I'm on the list.
I wouldn't delay in getting it.

Had my flu jab at 9 weeks and no issues whatsoever @jodesxx. You will be fine x

Better to have the jab ASAP than get flu.
