Is it ok to drink warm water from the Tap in the Uk!

Hello everyone
I am now in my third trimester and I throughout the pregnancy I drank lots of warm water from the tap whenever I had indigestion. I've just searched about it and I read that drinking warm water from the tap is not a good thing in pregnancy. What are your experiences?

But it doesn't matter, it's done now. As others said probably more checks happening in a college anyway.

@BertieBotts

Did you not wonder why the UK has separate hot and cold water taps in bathrooms? It seems to be the thing people notice when they have grown up elsewhere. It's because the hot water is often not safe to drink and so separate taps means your cold water supply doesn't get contaminated.
Everywhere I lived in the UK, there was only tap for both cold and hot water.

Ah well if they had mixed taps then it was totally safe to drink anyway.

dementedpixie · 31/10/2021 07:38

They are mixer taps and still have a separate hot and cold feed to them and then the 2 feeds are mixed before coming out the tap.

If you want warm water I’d use part freshly boiled water and part cold water from the tap.

These days almost everyone has mixer taps installed when they redo their bathrooms!

Most places have mixed taps now?!

Yes but you can only have a mixer tap put in if your hot water supply is drinking safe. And most of them are. It's a legacy thing that people say don't drink warm tap water/don't drink bathroom water. In houses with modern plumbing it is no issue at all.

I have mixer taps and a hot water cylinder and feeder tanks in the loft so I don't think the above is true

My plumber disagrees with this.

I have mixer taps in the bathrooms and a water tank in the attic too.

Not true
BertieBotts · 02/11/2021 07:55

Perhaps it's not a rule then but surely it's common sense? You brush your teeth in the bathroom, why would you want the cold water to have any risk of contamination from a dodgy not water source?
