Well, after three losses this year, I tested with fmu hoping for a dye-stealer. Strong lines, thankfully, but the FRER has let me down! Anyone else getting these stupid skinny lines on them that don't show how dark they are easily? Mine might be as dark as the control but the line is too skinny to determine it. Should I stop buying these from Amazon?

Honestly lovely that’s a really really strong positive.

Step away from the tests and try to relax

BelieveInRainbows · 29/10/2021 09:04

In the kindest way possible, a dye stealer means absolutely nothing. You are pregnant, hopefully with a very sticky baby. Peeing on all the sticks in the world won't change whatever happens and won't do any favours for your anxiety. Try to relax. Congratulations Flowers

Don't understand how this has let you down. My first line was thinner and fainter and yet here I am 38w pregnant. The lines don't mean anything other than 'you are pregnant'

Thanks for your responses, but with all due respect, like I said, I've had three losses in a single year, one MMC, one MC, and one ectopic. It's pretty condescending to tell anyone in my position to try and 'relax.' I'm doing my best as it happens.

Obviously I'm fully aware that pissing on sticks won't change the outcome of my pregnancy. But it can, and has, let me know how to manage my expectations in the past.

@weathervane123 People are trying to be helpful. You're not the only person in that unfortunate position of having multiple losses this year and those of us that have experienced the same know that testing every single day achieves nothing. There are so many reasons why a test might not be as dark as you expect it to be and it is awful for anxiety. I've been there and I don't wish it upon anyone, getting past that thought of I must keep testing is hard but it will do you the world of good.

Do a blood test 48 hours apart if you want to know how your HCG is rising, it's the only thing that will accurately tell you how this pregnancy is going and you can buy home test kits for pretty cheap and will probably save you money rather than buying FRERs constantly.

I sincerely hope that this pregnancy is the one for you.

I'm sorry for your losses and thank you for your kindness but it's not helpful to assume and then tell people things they already know.

I had one FRER and did ONE test at 10 dpo and one test today to check in. That's not remotely over the top for someone in my position.

All I'm asking is that people stop making assumptions and giving unsolicited advice, even kindly. It's patronising.

Congratulations 💐I have read the advice you have been given and it is all kind advice. You are clearly super anxious which is probably why you are feeling so sensitive. I am so glad that when I was pregnant 20 plus years ago there was literally a pregnancy test that you did once and as long as there was a line, you were pregnant. I was very anxious because of previous losses and am glad I didn’t have all the other tests now available. I really think it would have fuelled my anxiety . X

With all due respect, what were you expecting from this thread?
Spookybadgex · 29/10/2021 12:14

I didn't test at 17DPO but at 16DPO my FRER was one that looked a smidge darker than the control line but was hard to tell. 2 days later it was undeniably darker so maybe try another in a couple of days. I always bought mine from amazon too!

I will say I went on to miscarry that pregnancy a few weeks later (my 2nd loss in a row) but am currently pregnant again. Almost 20 weeks. Didn't bother testing to find dye stealers this time and have felt much better for it tbh. But you do what you gotta do. Tentative congratulations, hope all goes well.

Sorry I didn’t mean to offend, just trying to reassure that your test looks really strong.

Not sure what else you wanted from the thread though if I’m honest. Anyway all the best, I have my fingers crossed for you this time :)

GinnyBee · 29/10/2021 14:58

I don't know what you were looking for from the test, but the strength of the lines doesn't mean anything. I have had two losses this past year and am currently 11 weeks which is the furthest I've got in any of my pregnancies and the lines I got at the beginning of this pregnancy were fainter than the lines I had with the pregnancies that miscarried. Try not to get ahead of yourself, at this moment you're still pregnant.
