For referral to Specialist midwife "m. Gough " (that's their name) due to history.

So something to do with your health/pregnancy/social stuff needs checking by a more specialist midwife.

"history" in medical stuff is like the story.

Does that sound right?

“For referral to Specialist Midwife (or Senior Midwife) M. Gough due to history.
M Gough is probably the name of the Midwife referring you to.

Gloschick · 29/10/2021 08:38

I would have guessed specialist midwife called M. Gough.

Mitch83 · 29/10/2021 08:53

I think the gough is her surname possibly but the SPMW is what I want to understand

Mitch83 · 29/10/2021 08:58

SP is specialist. MW is midwife.

CrispNeveN · 29/10/2021 09:03

Think it's just shorthand not an acronym

Oftenithinkaboutit · 29/10/2021 09:07

Complex care needs have been identified.
Hence the referral

Oftenithinkaboutit · 29/10/2021 09:09

See it as a positive Op
You will be getting additional support throughout your pregnancy

Yes I am under the consultant as It's a very high risk pregnancy, however I was worried it was something to di with mental health which I'm still going to check out as they have referred me to a mental health specialist without even telling me as my last pregnancy over 9 years ago I lost my father to suicide and after birth had a bad time with coping however I do feel that was circumstances at the time which my consultant agreed, just this one midwife who did my original booking thought otherwise and didn't listen to a word I said to her, anyway the mental health team even said I didn't meet criteria I have no signs of mental health issues either just wondered if that's what has been put on there

I don't think it's a bad thing to have someone looking out for your mental health after having had a baby. Apart from the fact it's mind-blowingly hard, you never know what memories it might dreg up and you will get help quickly if you're finding coping difficult. I'm sorry about your dad. Flowers

I feel it is when they aren't listening to what your saying, I know I feel fine atm and if I don't I would say I just feel it was very unprofessional to do a referral without even telling me to be honest

Op your history is clearly sufficiently “full” that no matter you’d said, you would have been referred

If you had some MH issues and/or bereavement in your last pregnancy then it's fairly usual to be reffered to the perinatal MH team in your next. Pregnancy can bring up a lot of unresolved emotion.

I've had anxiety and was treated for it with CBT just prior to my first pregnancy, when I was pregnant with my second, I had an automatic referral because my previous notes triggered it.

I got a letter saying I'd been refered and discharged through without ever speaking to a MH professional.
